guys,

just to share experience with you all.

1) if park at area with down hill slope, never ever move the car by simply releasing the hand brake (with N gear and ignition off) and control the movement with foot brake. the BAS is not there so the brake is not working. (or maybe have to press harder?). nearly lost control of my car and only able to stop them by pulling the handbrake.
so for precaution, should move the car with engine running or maybe with ignition on will do.

2) never ever leave thumb drive attached to the usb port when not in use. mine after 2 months seldom take out the drive from the port, now the thumb drive becoming dumb drive. i think spoilt already. actually it was stated earlier in the manual that we should not practice leave them attached when starting the car. this could result in damage to the thumb drive. biggrin.gif havent check yet on the usb port. pray hard it is working fine and only the thumb drive spoilt.

ya. i also think like that before. now suddenly spoilt. maybe time to change new thumb drive la.haha
luckily its just old 512mb thumb drive.. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Vervain @ Feb 14 2010, 12:40 AM)
1) Think most brakes operate with brake pumps, so if your engine is not on, your brakes would kinda feel hard to engages. Applies to most cars. Try leaving your car in motion and engine killed. You will feel the brake is not operating well.
*
the problem is we used to brake with BAS on (for SX). so its very difference feeling when press the pedal with BAS and without BAS.
coz i feel like floor the brake pedal already but the car still moving forward. hehe

really malu leh. rclxub.gif

thats pre-historic thumb drive.. can put in museum.. kkekekeke tongue.gif

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Feb 14 2010, 01:22 PM)
For (1), no one should ever attempt to move a car without turning the ignition on. Putting the gear into N and releasing the handbrake regardless of any road surface is simply looking for trouble. No brakes, no proper steering, no engine and throttle, and no safety devices on... very dangerous.

*
maybe coz last time drove wira and the break is functioning like normal even without engine run. biggrin.gif
so its lesson learned for me..

Just asking,
Do you use motoman method for break in ?
*
not really. dont have the chance to get rpm near redline. (coz only use D, i should use shiftronic to get rpm near redline.. by the way even i want to do it, but always trap between hard rev and sayang car feeling. haha)

some other members really did hard break in. i cant recall whom.

but i just able to do like what manual says. rpm between 2k and 4k. and it is advised to avoid same speed driving for long period.
if want play safe, follow manual. if got guts use hard break in method.

*
as titarium said, its on the 1st post. got link there for online manual

download pdf file at http://www.kia.ca/content/Owners/OwnersMan...Forte_OM_EN.pdf

refer to page 1.4 with title VEHICLE BREAK-IN PROCESS

or i just realize that i can just copy and paste here.. LOL tongue.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE
No special break-in period is needed. By
following a few simple precautions for the
first 1,000 km (600 miles) you may add to
the performance, economy and life of
your vehicle.
• Do not race the engine.
While driving, keep your engine speed
(rpm, or revolutions per minute)
between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.

• Do not maintain a single speed for long
periods of time, either fast or slow.
Varying engine speed is needed to
properly break-in the engine.
• Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies,
to allow the brakes to seat properly.
• Don't let the engine idle longer than 3
minutes at one time.
• Don't tow a trailer during the first 2,000
km (1,200 miles) of operation.

I've been "on & off" checking this thread since end Jan 2010.

I've checked out this Forte baby @ Naza, Shah Alam. It's sleek & fabulous.
So, all the Forte on the road now are 1.6 EX or SX only?
2.0 still no sign....how come? Is there any problem with our government or Kia/Naza?

Now, I am considering of getting one, but before hand, would like to know, beside the low resell value, is there any other flaws - quality issue, problem in electrical stuffs & others?
*
no other flaw. if there is also, its stated in the manual as common thing. ie head lamp condensation.. but in SG they able to fix them.
and also alignment out when you get the car. but can fix. so far no other major problem except problem cannot tahan from driving the car!!!

i also seldom see one.. last time saw 2 on the road at same route via LDP.. very nice when compare to other cars. forte sexy back can give you cargasm.

I can see the trend who were previously active in this forum will gradually disappear after they collected their forte.
Most likely this thread will eventually die. cry.gif

this thread will die if no problem with our forte.. i rather wish this thread to die (means no problem for forte at all!!) than active with rant, whine, problem, defect, regret, etc... kekekekekeke

Ok, time for FC report from my Si Merah Pedas.

1. Pumped full tank Petronas Primax 95 at Rawang, drove balik kampung to Kuantan the next day (mostly highway).. only half tank used. Trip meter shows average 8.0l/100km.

2. On my way back to KL, pumped full tank Petronas Primax 97 (1) eh, primax 95 and 97 can campur ar?).. at first, trip meter shows average 6.8l/100km, then after stuck at the long jammed at Karak highway, trip meter shows average 7.1/100km.. Only quarter tank used to reach KL.. wohoooo...

Overall, as a conclusion, forte FC is superb  rclxms.gif

2) Any recommendation to get better FC? 3) fuel brand? 4) driving style?
*
1) can campur.. it'll became ron96 tongue.gif
2) ron97 will give you better mileage in expense of higher price. but it is justified. recommended for long distance drive. city drive i guess will waste your money only.
3) dunno la i suddenly become anti-shell.. read&heard Caltex is the best, then BHP & Esso/mobil, Petronas also good.
4) OKU drive... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ching4ever @ Feb 18 2010, 10:25 AM)
It depends on the driving style but engine also makes a lot of difference.

I tested with my previous new saga, Ron95 get more mileage than Ron97 with the same roads and same style. Whereby, Honda City, with Ron97 I can get more mileage than Ron95.

I usually pump RM40, so with City, it means I get less litres for Ron97 but it gives me more distance/power compare to Ron95. If Forte can do the same, I would love to pump Ron97 instead of 95, right?

I'll test it and report it back here to share with you guys. By the way, I use Petronas, Shell tend to gives a louder engine noise to me.
*
second that. shell is super lousy these days.
dont be fool with their marketing gimmick.

the only good about them is many stations available like petronas.

i've only test once for ron97. better mileage i can get.
but prefer use them on highway. if 100% city drive i guess will not make much differences

can anyone tell me need to release to what figure?
*
stockyard tyre pressure = 350kpa
recommended tyre pressure = 220kpa

just put the pump and it will release/adjust the air pressure accordingly

same like what bro KFC said...
but for me until naza HQ can confirm that installing alarm via nazakia authorized shop won't void forte warranty, only then can consider.
if nazakia authorized shop can install one (no void warranty one). don't trust them, they only want to make sales.

check with HQ for better clarification.. coz forte is new.. even extended warranty also no news until now.
