i hope anyone of you can comment on my photos n give some tips to improve my photography

currently im using a 2nd hand Nikon D40 with 35mm f1.8 lens. bought 2nd hand D40 because i still have no confidence to splurge on a D90 scared im not worth the camera hahaha. anyway some recent shots~ click for large size (1024px)

you D40 also shoot better than many out there with better gear la.

generally nice, i love #4.

a lot of them like no subject or fuzzy concept, but generally still looks good. #1, #3 and #8 are nice too.

Agreed with goldie that your shots are better than those who own more expensive gear.

D40 is a great gears to learn. i love playing with D90

Nice compo, colour, sharpness, and bokeh dude..35mm lens, does it mean you have to get very close to take the photos?

TS, do u hav edit the picture like adjust the color balance ?

35mm just refers to how wide the lens is.

it works pretty much like a 50mm on full frame.

usually with 35mm you need to stand quite a distance compared to like say 18mm shooting the same frame.

well not that close...as mentioned by goldfries, it's like using 50mm on full frame. but close enough to make strangers know im taking their photo lah

for me PP is a must! haha. only #4 got change white balance i think. #8 maybe got, not sure. one thing i realized is maybe my framing improve a bit this time, seldom find myself need to crop anything. only #3 got crop but very little

that's my niece who was playing with the bubble thing.. the one where u dip the ring into the bottle, take it out n blow through it. but then she dipped her finger into it instead +_+

personally i like how the flowers n the background made nice blue/purple bokeh circles.. and her shiny2 fingers hehe

too bad the eyes arent sharp was juz focusing on her fingers

hmm now that you've mentioned it, i guess it is quite harsh... +2/3 expo comp n actually i already decrease the exposure on the face in PP. thanks for pointing that out n yes, sunlight from my back

i'm no sifu but sure i can tell you that you have a good sense of using the rule of thirds. and together with ur creative composition ability, it attracts my eye wanting for me to view it

planning to upgrade from LX3 la haha bought it 1 month ago only but felt limited lol might be because I held my friend's D90 first haha

thx!! mm d40, 18-55 n 35mm i bought from garage sales rm1.6k. more than 1 year old, maybe 2? haha keep ur lx3 la...i thought of selling my lx3 first to cover the cost of buying d40..but then later i think sooner or later i'll need a compact camera anyway. so juz keep lah. plus my d40 no video recording hehe

so that's the story why im broke right now

lightroom filter... the name is PH The Weddings... forgot where i download but free lah

oh ok thanks hehe.. i haven't tried lightroom, will try it out with this filter when i manage to find it.

finally graduated from uni a few months ago. during final year hard to go out and play with my D40 haha. some new pics, and a new website!

they were wearing colours that complement each other



random snapshot. it's at a hallway with a green shade so i had to play around with the colour balance a lot. the result was fantastic!
