Hi, has anyone here done any soundproofing for their BLM? I hear the Saga noise level is a bit high compared to Myvi. Any recommendations about budget soundproofing? Not DIY type but with installation for the complete set with engine bay, door and roof treatment.

I'm due to pick up my new black M-line manual this Thursday. A quieter ride will be my first priority.

Also, can anybody recommend a place that will accept trade in for M-line stock player (non-mp3) to mp3 player? How much they will they charge extra? I am in Petaling Jaya. TQ.

coolkwc, thanks! I'll try first then. Regarding tyres, I heard that 15" rim gives the best FC. Any truth in that?

xshiro, coolkwc and all, thanks for your responses. Really appreciate it.

Maybe this question has been asked before but when you guys got your new BLM, are u picky about the brand of petrol and the RON? Any tips on what to avoid?

I am picking up by new m-line manual tomorrow. Waiting period 3 days only, then my SA disappeared makan angin. Tomoro only get. Itching to know how it will be after years of driving Audi.

I was supposed to get my new M-line last Thursday but it didn't happen. Was told there's a big cock-up in system migration in the proton order delivery system and everything now havoc. Apparently my car has been sitting in their yard in Tg Malim and they cannot retrieve. Someone told me under the new system they could not match the stock with the order number. Wtf! So even though they oredi got road tax etc for my car, they cannot tell me when it will arrive. Proton boleh! Anybody else got the same problem?

How can there is a roadtax when there is no car?
*
Exactly. The only thing I can think of is they haven't sempat to screw on the no. plate and road tax b4 the system went bonkers so now they got to go to the yard and manually hunt for the car with the matching chassis no. among hundreds of cars there. Just a guess. I really hope its not true.

6 days after the committed delivery date, still no sign of my m-line. I went to see my SA's boss face to face just now for explanation. He said there are some major, major problems with delivery and they have no idea when it will be fixed. Apparently they kena tiau by many customers about the delay. If you plan to buy a proton, please ask them if they've solved the delivery system problem before you pay. Otherwise you end up like me.

If you know anyone who had taken delivery of a BLM these few days, please share which branch of Proton Edar the car was delivered from because I'm still trying to find out if its true or not about the whole country having problem with the stockyard and nothing can be delivered since last week.

Really disappointed. I should have listened to my instincts and gone for a Myvii.

Actually I'm not frustrated about the long waiting list becoz I had zero waiting list. They had stock for 'instant' delivery and I paid cash. I got the chassis no. within 48 hours, got the no. plate registered, insurance & road tax all got, and now its sitting idle in their yard. But they cannot take it out becoz the computer system rosak, and they cannot tell me when I can see my car. Maybe tomorrow, next week, next month. See no touch. That's what I am pissed off about.

Added on April 21, 2010, 4:36 pmAnd by the way this BLM is not my first car. I use my Audi A6 for work, planned to use the Saga for short distance driving.

xshiro, ya I'll be bugging the SA and his manager 3 times a day until I get an answer.

sohailili, we could be referring to the same thing. From wat I understand, the policy/law change is that Proton Edar no longer manages their own stock yards. They subcontracted it to a 3rd party. The problem is the 3rd party. Now everything is jam up with them with no solution in sight as of 6pm today (yeah I called). So you and I are actually facing the same problem.

It is like buying a house that's ready for occupancy with CF, grant, etc., and you already settle the payment. But they cannot give you the key because their computer system cocked up. And they cannot promise when they can give it to you. Maybe next day, next month or next year until the system is fixed. The worse thing is road tax oredi jalan for 1 week, payment all settled but they refuse to move the car out of the stock yard, so you paid for something you cannot use.

sohailili: compensate road tax? Good idea, I will ask my SA's boss about it.

fussylogic: so means you waited almost 4 weeks to get your car then. I'm not sure if the delivery problems oredi started by 10th April becoz they only told me about the delay on 15th April. Maybe yr father lucky & escaped it by a few days. My BLM is processed by Proton Edar Mutiara Damansara. I think its the biggest showroom in PJ.

SA told me my road tax belum jalan yet...
but he oso said can get car next week already..
how is ur status?

Called them an hour ago and got the same story. They still cannot commit the delivery date. As of today they are 8 days late for my delivery, and my insurance/road tax oredi 10 days running like meter while it sits in their yard.

Don't just take your SA's word for it. Ask him if they are still barred from their stockyard. Sometimes its easier for them to promise you a date and then break it later than answer a tough question. I found it out the hard way.

Added on April 23, 2010, 4:20 pmThe Saga 1.6 (S) MT is available for booking, according to the Proton Edar website.

Go to the main site, click on showroom, then on Saga, then you get 4 choices. Book 1.3 (S) SE, Book 1.6 (S) MT, Book M-Line, Book B-Line.

However... I asked one SA and he told me there's no such thing except for taxi. Then why is it still on the website... he couldn't answer me.

last time u can buy it but now im not sure, i heard the saga 1.6 is sold out or they stop selling it already.

maybe u need to call proton customer support to clarify this
Yes, when I asked a different SA he said that the company didn't update their website becoz they stop selling it oredi. Honestly for the advertised price of 39k (basic, manual) it is a good deal to get 1.6+DOHC at that price. It might even give better FC than 1.3. I don't understand why they stopped selling it.

Seriously. Proton is a dumb shit. i had kind of same problem as beastboy.. everything done and they dont even want to deliver the farking car. the sales person keep saying that she also confuse with proton. dont know why they dont want to deliver the car. wtf! my car is at there eating dust for like 2 weeks already.
*
Have they bought insurance & road tax for your car yet? If yes, then you rugi ~$4 a day for every day they didn't deliver to you. That's what happened in my case. So means if they delay 1 month, then my insurance/rd tax only usable for 11 months. Wtf.

Not market strategies matter for 1.6 Saga BLM  sweat.gif Saga 1.6 assembled only available on b.line & manual cos only for taxi. They release to end user cos of the left over stock. They stop selling after all stock cleared.

Finally, I got my car today after pushing them every day for 9 days. I kind of pity the SA for that, grateful that he pulled every string he could find. If he's reading this, thanks!

Sohailili, yes my insurance/road tax oredi hangus for 12 days when I received the car. I'm seeing the SA again next week to see if I can get some compensation. One thing at a time. For now, I'm just happy I got the car.

Btw mine is M-line manual, black.

Comparing with Wira, when my BLM manual goes 80km/h on 5th gear, engine is 2500 rpm.

For Wira 1.5 manual, at same speed/gear, engine is only 1800-2000 rpm.

Ok different engine & gear ratios, understood, but it also means BLM engine must turn 20-30% faster to achieve same speed as Wira. Its like a jogger with short legs have to run harder to keep up with the jogger with long legs. Might this be why FC is not as good as ppl expect, compared to Wira/Iswara?

What modifications have you done to improve FC, and do they work?

Or would you like to share about what modification *doesn't* work? (I heard those fuel line magnets are a waste of money, dunno true or not.)

Damn! you're one lucky guy there. mine burn for like 10 days plus also.. last tuesday should be sending my car here already.. now they dont even know where's my car.. they say monday will allocate for me.. hope i can get it on monday or else ill burning my money again~
*
Actually my SA went thru hell to get it. Because the so-called new system jammed everything, he had to drive a long distance to the yard and find my car by hand. There were about 10,000 cars in the yard he said and it was a hot day. I hope they fix that damn system soon.

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Apr 25 2010, 01:10 AM)
No choice, Campro is high rev engine + body weight heavier than Wira and Iswara,  so they have to shorten the gear ratios for better pickup.

for better FC, dun rev ur engine more than 3k rpm on 1-4th gear.
*
The first tank I filled up to 4 notches. Traveled 50km @ about 60-70km/h and it went down to 3 notches. That's crazy. Wonder if removing the spare tyre will have any impact on FC.

I've been blasting the radio since I got the car on Saturday. This morning I decided to drive in "silent" mode. Conclusion: I suspect I have to change the alternator. Got unusual whirring sound that I wouldn't have noticed with the radio on.

During breaking-in period, occasionally drive your car in silent mode. The quieter the better so you can listen for any strange noises.

Sorry to hear that. They registered your car the same day you booked it? That's fast! They took 2 days to confirm my chassis number and another day to register. What was their explanation for the delay?

don tell me all the black car kenot take out?  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

I hope you get good news too. Yesterday I saw a transporter lorry on the road with 6 new BLMs, so it is a sign that something's moving. If all branches using the same stock delivery system, then it will affect all proton cars.

Just now I went to the SC to find the source of the noise. It turned out to be the fan. They said previous models got 2 fans, 1 for radiator, 1 for aircon. Now there's only 1 fan for both. It spins harder so its louder, and they said this noise is normal for BLM. Wah, to me it sounds like a bad alternator. Oh well...
