If you're considering the best bang for your money, no doubt it's the Logitech Driving Force GT (DFGT). It is afterall the official wheel for GT5.

The gated gearbox on the G27 might gives you realism but when it comes to racing simulation, sequential gearbox will delivers faster lap time with less margin of error compared to gated gearbox.

Graphics for sure won't be optimum if GT5 is running at 720p. I've previously used a HD READY panel & the resolution is not doing justice to the game. You can noticed a lot of jagged lines if you're running on 720p. Since then, I've switched to a FULL HD panel & the result is awesome.

LCD monitor looks even better though due to smaller screen size for the same 1920x1080 output.

I have got a wheel stand pro too. I bought it used from a forumer here. Works great during GT5 Nissan 370z time trial event but now it's left idling in my room. Awaiting GT5.

Will there be a time attack challenge among GT5 fans here once the game is release?
