wow didn't realized that Uitm has their own thread here in lyn..

graduated with a bachelor degree in Business Admin (Finance) from Uitm Shah Alam

I'm not an industry expert, nor do I have strong networks in the Human Resource industry; but what I can offer is just a humble opinion from someone who had entered the job market in my field (Finance/ Banking/ Investment).

Those that have doubts, stop worrying whether our certs are worth more/less than this/that local University. Those that have that view are not getting the point. Undergraduate certs are just tickets, get a good one you get to be infront than others, but it still wont determine whether you'll be allowed inside.

If there is such a thing as bias towards which Uni we graduate from it is only oversea vs local grads. This is understandable. but for local public Uni's.. lets just say its a free for all out there. Read a few page back that some employees are giving lower wage for Uitm grads compared to other local Uni.. well show me who they are and I'll show you a company not worth working for. Seriously if I am the owner of the company I would fire all the HR personnel that does that, not because I am an alumni of UiTM but because again, your cert does not ultimately determine who you are and how you will perform for the company.

My advice to those graduating
1) English;
I know most of us are excellent in english, it is just that we perform poorly in speech and communicating with them because we seldom use them (being in an all malay environment). Nothing wrong with speaking malay, but try some english once a while. Its the only way! this is important because this is the language you will use in the office.

2) Networks;
Build your network from now, theres no need to rush and find someone who is top and big corporate figure; im sure they are not keen on you as well hehe.. just look around you, your friends/acquaintance might not be somebody now, but they will be somebody in the future. keep in touch! and always make new friends and dont just stuck with the malays only, the higher the variety the bigger your network. this is your most valuable hidden asset.
