I think the processor dont have much different TDP coz the core i-series and the C2D series have diff fabrication, let me search for a while....

thx kytz, really appreciated.

screen looks awsome. haha.

after search, I see that P-series have at most 25W TDP, Tseries 35W, compared to i5 and i7 mobile have the most 35W TDP.

so, in general, the TDP doesnt change as much. I can safely say that dell doesn't need to redesign, but If they can improve, then why not?

i should be specific about my question. sorry.

what I want to ask is, is the new dell studio xps 16 (with i5/i7, chipset PM55/HM55, ATi4670) still uses this design?

the best candidate is ATi 5770. looking back from xps timeline, dell seems like to use the XT part of GPU.

xps 15 series used 8600GT, then upgrade to 3670 (M86XT) then 4670 (M96XT). the best candidate is using madison-XT chip, which is 5770 or 5750.

really suffice, but nowdays RPG itself have lots of games. new RPG sure is berat one. but for 2-3 years, I think its ok.

I play RTS a lot, so to speak. my 4570 is too underpowered to run anything with med settings. now have to cope with low settings. haha.

agree with you kytz. as long as you take care of your unit well, it will serve you well also. few OCs, heavy games wont hurt much. but if you plan to play games heavily, i would suggest a desktop.

Like mine, I plan to do a full skin cover/guard. Know any product that specifically caters this? I know InvisiShield for Handphones/smartphones.

Your budget? kioks in sg wang, lowyat offer skinning service...hydraskins also got this service at their sunway pyramid branch...

xplain more, and where is the kiosk? the one beside the escalator?
QUOTE(-kytz- @ Feb 9 2010, 05:23 PM)
Can u explain a little more about skinning/hydra skinning? It's transparent right? sweat.gif How much please...i heard its around RM100 shakehead.gif

Else,Kaizeru, i guess it would be using screen protector and using them as the laptop skin(covering lid, edges and the touch pad area....basically all the glossy parts)

Or skinning would be better hmm.gif
*
I would like to cover as much as possible, as I've paid a good amount of money for this XPS. skinning is the last option.

QUOTE(outlife11 @ Feb 9 2010, 08:51 PM)
nop... but iirc that a software for OC even i5/i7

from zagg eh? seen them, but I prefer if I could buy in Malaysia first.

QUOTE(AceOfSpades @ Feb 9 2010, 10:15 PM)
hi, do u know if the xps 16 with i7-720qm processor will freeze out of no where sometimes? because some users say that their computer with that processor will just freeze out of nowhere. anyone experience that problem before?
*
the throttling issue, I think dell is releasing new power brick and new BIOS for that, as what I've read in outside forum. norebookreviu i think.

huh~ is the processor problem or motherboard problem ??
freeze out meant hanging ??
*
processor. It is that when we use the 4 cored i7, the power is not within the 90W limit the power brick support, so the processor itself will limit the power usage by tuning down the multiplier. and the result, from usual 1.6GHz dropped to 933MHz. huge loss.

to use the 130W adapter, the BIOS must be correct also, if not, the XPS motherboard just draws 90W worth of power

lol. the only customization I did was to replace the default 6 cell battery for 9cell battery, and the delivery was pushed from 6/2 to 12/2. it also depends on stock, not case of default or not.... haih~

guys, I usually used the Jack Sparrow version of Win 7 ultimate. now by deciding to opt for dell, I notice it have ori windows 7 home premium. from what I read, Remote Desktop Connection only client version only. can somebody confirm this? I really used a lot of RDP, sometimes from my desktop to my laptop, vice versa.

if cant have RDP, I might reformat the dell to install my Jack Sparrow ultimate. or anyone knows any bypass or hack?
