DELL will refresh GPU in March, not sure about the exact date, GPU will be better compare to the current ATI 4670, according to my SA. I already cancelled my order since there is delay on my customized system - RGBLED screen part shortage. Other who is not rushing to get a new laptop, can hold your order till March. 

The power adapter issue, my SA said that there is no 130W adapter available in Malaysia, if browse to DELL US, there is no option to order 130W adapter either. She also said there will be Bios update to solve the issue. Not sure how true is that. 

Very positive, actually I already paid for the previous customized system which I cancel the order, now DELL holding up the payment till March for the new GPU instead of arranging a refund.

There is a forumer saying that DELL Canadian has actually once allow user to customize SXPS 16 with ATI 5730 in January, but it's a mistake for DELL Canadian to post up the system because actually they don't have any stock for ATI 5730 yet and end up this forumer downgraded the GPU to ATI 4760.

Referring to the product website: ATI 5730, looks like a promising GPU with support of DirectX 11 but with lower clock speed of 650Mhz compare with 675Mhz for ATI 4670. Newer technology which is 40nm (5730) compare to 55nm (4760), thus, power consumption is lower, 26W (5730) compare to 35W (4730). Specification can be found on notebookcheck.net.

Maybe due to power throttling issues that happening worldwide make DELL to refresh to a newer GPU with lower power consumption.

Currently, which model of laptop are you using? Plan to change to Dell Studio XPS 16? 

Acually, I'm not really sure about the GPU refresh ... maybe it just a rumor I have heard from others ...  Recently, I do "lurking" around here very often as I love to hear opinions & experience sharing from various Dell Studio XPS 16 users ...  For the time being, I think I'm not able to "fancy" myself one as I have no budget for this machine yet ... maybe in future ...

i think his heatsink got problem.. cuz he hardcore gamer, everyday gaming for 2 - 3 hours liddat.

now his laptop screen blackout , cannot switch on edi.. mayb motherboard also sot liaw.. so moral is, don take ur laptop for hardcore gaming... really kills it ...

Added on February 15, 2010, 10:25 amyeap, if u wanna go for gaming, don just look at the gpu that the laptop can offer, go for some heat sinking technology built for the laptop.
i went for m11x cuz my budget under 4k and lookin for a gaming laptop which does not heat up like crazy T.T

i have considered studio xps once, but after seeing my fren's xps hot like hell, i scared edi.

m11x didn offer a good cpu, but its gpu is decent enough for u to last at least 1 to 1.5 years from now.



cpu wise, i think su7300 is not bad for that 6hours of battery life. in fact, su7300 is actually quite a good proc edi.

Hmm... Exactly the same thing DigitalStuff offered when i *almost* bought the SXPS 16 end of last year.

Anyway...

What's with all the hype about a refresh after CNY? Feels like ages since CNY and still no news yet... I've been checking Engadget everyday in hopes of some teeny tiny lil bit of rumor concerning the SXPS line

Is it in anyway possible they would try to clear their stock during the upcoming PC Fair and thus roll out the new ones AFTER the PC Fair, or is it just my wishful thinking?

Lol... Every little change on the Dell website seems to indicate the refresh, since i dunno, MONTHS ago? Haha...
