Guys...
I've been thinking, which would be a good setup for my condo..
for single unit of 2hp, it would be a single point of failure (if it breaks down)...
for 2 unit of 1hp, if 1 have problem, at least the other one can still work...
1 near the dining + 1 near my living... my living and dining area is like a typical condo setup, 1 single square space....heheh

if both setup has the same cost (hardward + installation), which would you choose?

Any suggestion?

hmm it sounds like ur condo needs a failsafe cooling system
i suggest at least 3 phase wiring
and 4 units of 1 HP

2 units at each location so if one fails the other can operate

which one is cheaper?

about the installation cost, normally they can give 'Free' installation for 1HP since it can use normal power point but not for 2HP

if the total cost won't effect u much, i recommend get 2 unit..as u said before...1 down 1 still available

2 units of 1hp at each location?? hmm.. im thinking of only 1unit for dining and 1 unit for living since each area is about the same size of a normal size bedroom...

anyway, will it drain more electricity if i switched-on both (1hp) than compared to the single 2hp unit? shouldnt it be the same?

1 unit 2hp cheaper than 2 units 1hp , save cost on installation for 1 unit rather than 2 units, save electricity, cheaper future maintenance. quieter than 2 units. Go for 2 hp single unit. save space for indoor and out door, more neat at home.etc etc

ok, if space for indoor and outdoor is not an issue + installation for both setup wont differ much, will it make any different in terms of temperature ??

actually, the room temp is my main concern... afraid that the 2 unit of 1hp will not give the same result of 1unit of 2hp if both is set at 16celcius for example....

damn kiasu man...it is not like u can die if ac fails...
since u live in condo, do u hv much space for the compressors if u want multiple 1hp?
ppl do it for practical reasons...nvr heard hse need fail safe for ac...macam u r managing commercial building

failsafe is just 1 of the benefit, not the main reason...
why i was opting for 2 unit if 1hp is becos for my condo, i can have a back to back setup for each 1hp unit...less piping and wiring involves compare to hacking my walls to hide the piping if I place the single unit of 2hp in between my living and dining....

i wouldn't occupy both living and dining area at the same time, so switching on 1 unit at the living area when i watch tv seems to be more energy saving to me.. and switching both unit ONLY when i invites frens to come over...

so let me rephrase the question again, will both setup differ from one another in terms of temperature??
