As of my friends and even me myself, has compared which one's better- PSP 3000 or iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB.
The reason why I'm comparing 32GB is, well, the price is similar to PSP 3000.
First, I will list down the pros and cons of PSP and iPod Touch. (This is just my personal experience. So don't tackle too much.)

PSP 3000
Pros:
Bigger Screen. (duh!)
Better graphics.
Better quality of movies. (depends. but those UMD ones are certainly better) icon_rolleyes.gif
Very useful to spend hours when bored.
Large number of fast-paced games compared to iPod. drool.gif
Can change batteries. thumbup.gif
Support UMD.
Speaker volume is bigger. cool.gif

Cons:
Need to buy memory sticks. (PSP Go excluded.)
Bigger in size, meaning it doesn't fit some pockets.
Price of the game. (Some people DO buy originals.)
Poorer at playing musics. (meaning menus and those stuff that iPod has)
Supports only little number of video formats.

iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB
Pros:
Has Touch Screen. (if it doesn't, then why is it iPod TOUCH?)
No need to carry memory stick.
Better at playing music.
Can use sport strap to use it while exercising (I do, at least)
Has Nike + iPod (I do trainings quite a lot.)
Have many games that can be bought for cheap prices or via cracked file. (Jailbreak, duh)
Has the voice command thinggy
Easier to carry it around.
Specially design for playing musics more easy. icon_idea.gif
Easier to convert and put videos inside iPod compared to PSP 3000.
Has gravity sensors, which make a lot of difference in gaming compared to PSP 3000. thumbup.gif
Has a lot more accessories compared to PSP. (I think)

Cons:
Graphic is poorer than PSP 3000.
Cannot expand memory more than 32GB.
Smaller screen.
Speaker volume is smaller.
Does not support UMD or anything similar.

Well, that's about the Pros and Cons of those two awesome devices, which I own both.
And one common con that they share- you might break it if you play a game due to stress. (my friend did.) sweat.gif

Anyway, some people might say that PSP games are far better than iPod Touch games, but I don't really think so.
As I have mentioned, iPod Touch has gravity sensors, which can make a lot of difference in racing games.
And, others also might say that PSP has MORE games than iPod, but I'm not so sure about that fact.
iPod Touch game industry is getting bigger and bigger, that the number of games is nearly catching up the number of PSP games. Anyway.

You are welcome to share your opinions, but please don't offend others. notworthy.gif

But iPods are quite bad at doing what they're supposed to do in the first place.

Play music.

The SQ of music from an iPod (good earphones help, but the awful SQ is still there, although it doesn't help that so many people use the garbage Apple ones) is absolutely horrible.

Yup, I completely agree that iPod touch's sound quality is horrible. But still, since i have a free ear, it doesn't matter so much o.o but psp is horrible as well.. same or worse than ipod touch

Don't forget, iPod primary purpose is media player, while PSP primary purpose is games.

You can compare and contrast all you want, but ultimately, they should be judged by their main functions, and the iPod fails at audio, while the PSP, on the other hand, does well playing games.

do u really like the idea of touching the screen and rotating the device as the main input of gaming?

if yes, then ipod touch lo

for me, i would rather get a PSP Go, it can fit in your pocket,

the downside is that the games (original download form) are more expensive, but most PSP games are more lengthy than iPod touch game, PSP games are meant for true gaming, iPod touch games are meant for killing time

even for music purpose, PSP Go/3000 can do equally well job
what's even better is that u can use drag and drop mp3 in PSP, while iPod cannot

IPOd is expensive because of its good marketing and design.

the sound is crap.

the only reason why it sounds good in apple shop cause of its good earphone.

wait, u are comparing God of War, Final Fantasy Crisis Core to rolling a ball shocking.gif

everything the ipod can do, the psp can do.(other than rolling a ball)

want to roll a ball? then get a PS3 and download the Duckling game lol
6 axis technology definitely can roll better than built in accelerometer in iPod touch

I bought a PSP to play games, listen to music, watch TV shows, play games, read ebooks, find out the time, act unsociable, play games, fap to some pr0n goodness that the 4" LCD provides, play games, go on the internet, watch some FLVs, (I know that is hitting below the belt, but wait, there's more), listen to music (including WMA and AAC!), play games....

In short, it's PSP for me all the way. If you enjoy gaming on the iPod or iPhone... Well, I feel sorry for you.

unless you're playing simple puzzle games or shooting games(tap screen to shoot) the ipod touch is a pathetic games machine.

a virtual joystick just doesnt cut it as far as gaming is concerned.
it's downright ridiculous doh.gif

hmm... cant say much as I own this 2 product and iphone...

but both has their advantage and disadvantage,

PSP is great for gaming.. seriously screen and graphics is AWESOME...

iPod Touch in another hand has a great mobility... for example the wifi browser is great compared to PSP... sometime iPod Touch replace my netbook when I go out... I treat my iPod Touch like my ultra mini computer... cause carrying a netbook sometime can be a hustle...

The PSP is more of a thoroughbred then the iPod Touch. On a personal level, the PSP will serves for mobility gaming while the iPod Touch will be used for web browsing on the go.

Regards, Joey
