ok...i think i can give u a few opinions

first of all, this laptop is great, the display is wonderful, the performance is still one of the best with the price that comes..

as for ur worry, the processor, mine was the very first batch, p8400, running on 2.26Ghz only, but for daily use or gaming needs, i don see any bottlenecking from processor so far, multitasking is video + msn + firefox, all runs without lag

the weight is also slightly lighter then other 14.1'' according to other forumer here mentioned. and for battery life, you can have a maximum of 4 hours++ battery life when u switch to the intel integrated graphic, and if u wanna game, u can switch to the nvidia 9600M GT for the gaming performance, however don expect long battery life from nvidia card though...typically if u are watching video and surfing internet, u get around 2 hours battery life, from what i notice

the speakers are great too, to my, it's just great, although it lacks of bass(like all the other laptop speaker out there), but the sound clarity is just great..

as for disadvantage...first of all that you will notice, is that there is no short cut media keys at all, for instance, those "Play" "Stop" global keys are totally not there. and there is also temperature issue on nvidia card, gaming temperature can reach as high as 98C, however typically, newer batch S42 will only reach 89C-92C on maximum heat(other new batch users correct me if i am wrong)
lastly, the driver itself. for the last 4 pages, blindbox have been trying to get modded graphics driver for hybrid graphic to work, however, result is he keep failing..however, that will soon be solved, because Nautis, a famous graphic driver modder have promised a periodical release of graphic drivers for hybrid graphic

it's really up to u about this laptop, the heat is not that noticeable for anything lower then 85C, u will just feel slight warm on ur left palm(where the GPU is located)..as for the actual gaming performance, please refer first page post #2 for benchmarks being done by forumers in the past

that depends on which cooler u are using, i am currently using CM U2, the one that can adjust fan position, and i have adjusted my fans directly under the air vent, and the idle temp dropped from 62-63C to to 60C, sometimes 59C if the room is cold enough(hehe...), and as for load, not that much decrement...and recently i havent been playing intense games, just playing PS2 games with emulator, and that one is normally just 80C, cos it's just around 60-70-C GPU usage
but i recall last time i benched and it's down for 2C or so as well

not sure about acer, but to be honest, my travelmate has been serving me since 2006, still alive and kicking..right now serving my brother XD

just customized on US site...GTX 285 + the best thermal compound with FullHD LCD is 1744 USD, which is RM5748..crazy price

actually if u don mind throwing 5-6K on laptop that can last quite some time(not to mention nice look also..for me), sager can be ur choice...
but right now to me, s42 enough XD

just a suggestion...get external keyboard for s42...then u wont be feeling the graphic card heat, and as a result, no worrying that..hehe

my highest temperature record was 98C, with Bioshock 2, ultra overclocked settings(just recently)...or else it would say around 93C, and CoH can dump the temp to around 95C, and steadily increases to 97C after 2 hours gameplay..but that was before i get my heatsink fixed..after that i remember was around 94C max, and i didnt tried prolonged gameplay since then...

and those are not really considered overheating for s42, it's consider normal loading temp

ya lo...maybe typo? 86C instead?

have...ur Wifi light is now blue, press fn+F12, and u will see it turn orange, that means bluetooth only, and press another time, become purple, that means wifi and bluetooth are both on

no problem....it's really something that we 'discovered' after buying it...cant blame u, the controls are rather hidden also...i think that time John told me or something..haha

but ur idle temp is rather impressive..where are u living ler....mine here lowest is 60C with latest dox's driver, watching HD is around 66-69C nia with core-AVC and CUDA support on...last time was hitting 72C one ler before i bend my heatsink

maybe gua..mine was hardcore turned on for folding last week, and this week for d0wnl0ads, so it's like nearly 24/7 no off..and the only time i turned off was last weekend...i just gently tapped the air vent for the heatsink fan..damn lot of dust coming out..and my fan is making some weird sound in rare occasions..

well...it's like N95 last time...averagely walking in shopping mall, every 10 minutes can see 1-2 ppl holding it..very popular..and somemore right now came out with customized firmware..sure everyone went gila lo

see lo..sometimes u lying on bed use...if got 2 finger scrolling and 3 finger swiping for different browser tab/applications, it would be very handy
