PhysX is one of the features of GeForce cards written with NV's CUDA... simply speaking, PhysX allows in-game physics to be calculated by the GPU instead of the CPU for real-time and more realistic effects...
eg of games that support PhysX are Mirror's Edge and Borderlands... PhysX can be ran on any NV GPU thay supports CUDA, ie GPU running on the Unified Streaming Processors architecture, to in layman's term, GeForce 8 or later... This post has been edited by astria: Feb 4 2010, 12:37 AM |

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Feb 4 2010, 12:58 AM) i love the layman term part yup, PhysX would stress the GPU more, so NV has shut it down for cards with less than 32SP, or 256MB RAM, or both... (aka min would be GT 220M, GT120M, 9500M GS and 8600M GT for each generation of cards)so i just have to enable it on the game config or nvidia config center? based on the explanation, PhysX seems to be stress GPU even more... it's enabled by default, and u can disable it at the NV Control Panel... |

32SP is juz too weak for both graphic and PhysX...
Added on February 4, 2010, 9:41 amanyway, u can grab PhysX driver from LV2G as well... they have separated it from the Forceware... This post has been edited by astria: Feb 4 2010, 09:41 AM |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Feb 4 2010, 10:01 AM) but then cards like 4870x2 would require PCE-E x16 2.0 right? i just sked later got bottlenecked..haha nah, PCI-E 1.1 will still work...thanks a lot, now i can safely wait for fermi to come out the main reason for the shift to PCI-E 2.0 is that it can provide more power, thus removing the need for the extra power plugs (by rit) |

At SC, they quote rm968(838 for lcd panel + 130 for labour fee). but they dont have stock. earliest can repair is after chinese new year. if after that i want to continue the warranty, they have to check my lappy condition first then only can continue. fyi this saturday my lappy will be 2 weeks old the shop give u LCD monitor or LED-backlit LCD monitor???then i went to other repair shop. they want to charge me around rm 600 total and will take around 2-3 days to change the display. now im wondering which one should i choose? i need all of you opinion and suggestion. if i sent to normal shop the warranty will be void. i have 11 months more S42 is using LED backlit unlike S41... |

QUOTE(monza84 @ Feb 4 2010, 05:41 PM) Well, for the samsung oceanic life video, 9600M GT can still handle it well using MPC-HC..but got downgraded a little, CPU maintained at 40% like that for me yup, that's a real GPU burner as far as HD videos are concerned...alright, off for some jogging... see u guys later... |

all the new dual core has GPU built into it...
it's a matter of mobo choice by the OEM... HM55, HM57, QM55 and QS55 have the bus that connects to the GPU and the display output, while PM55 has none of those... |
