You can, but you won't be able to use the native BB apps (BBM, BBMap, Facebook for BB, YM for BB, Gtalk for BB etc). Change the browser general setting to Hotpot browser & you should be able to browse the web using WiFi.

Please note that Googlemap in BB DOES not use WiFi - it uses either BIS or 3G/Edge.

people usually opt for BB due to its ability to get you connected 24/7 wherever you are (as long as there is network signal). The WiFi option is just an add-on feature whenever you need a faster connectivity for internet browsing & a place to do so (WiFi spot).

If you intend to use your phone for internet connectivity using WiFi only.. You should consider using different phones as you won't be able to fully utilize your BB capabilities without BIS and the other phones do have applications better suited for WiFi connection.

well it's just my 2 cents.. different ppl have different needs - it's your money anyway not mine  whistling.gif

i dun need 24/7 connection, i just need it when i'm bored while waiting for someone/something/some-whatnot. i dunwan other phones like how ppl wants iphone and not others.
and anyway, for what i know now is u need BIS when u using BB's apps.
well, i dun need thier apps anyway. i can just use the browser to do things i need.
so i think its fine, right?

the main thing i want the phone is just to for normal calls, normal sms and normal online (fb normally).... so i think i dun need BIS right?

I understand what you mean.. BB is able to do all the things you want but without BIS there is 1 thing which you wont be able to do (which I think the main reason why people compared BB without BIS the same as 3310) which is MMS - you wont even be able to open MMS from other people (correct me if I'm wrong, but my friend do have this issue)

when i just bought my storm2, i get to see the "globe" icon next to the "space" button when i typing for me to change input language.

but then lepas i tukar sim card and start my phone, no more globe icon. i only can input ABC... cannot input chinese...

where the globe go?

i tried to change at option > language and test input > language.... only got english, english US and english UK.

apa dah jadi?
