info is scarse, but the new suit is cool.

Similar to Kamen rider's design.

so basically, you still use poorly designed engineering weapons which are highly successful in killing these monsters whereas more well equipped ppl couldnt?

My demo download should be done too, will find out tonight.

graphics are cool, as are the new suit

i do like how conventional weapons have little ammo and are not as effective. there is a cool new weapon though

They did some changes. Reloading no longer requires you to aim. Items no longer drop when enemies die unless shot at or stomped on.

You all didn't buy the weapons DLC/pack? The Supernova pack is quite good - 3 different armor/weapon sets that really help with gameplay. If CE also get the Zealot armor and weapons. That one looks the coolest imo but for stats the 50% stasis recharge + 25 slots is pretty good.

I've played through 3 times. Working on Zealot now. But hardcore is way too hard. Only 3 saves total for whole game. If you die, you go back to the last save .. not the checkpoint! I'm too afraid to try.

If you manage to get to disc 2 you'll get a free checkpoint at chapter 7 since the game won't ask you to insert disc 1 to reload your last save if you die but it must be continuous play of course. I already completed Hardcore, it's not really that hard considering the difficulty is actually survivalist enemies with zealot loots if you've done zealot.

Finally completed hard core mode last night. It's not that difficult but can get quite frustrating since most of the time when you do die, it's usually your own fault. Saved at the start of episode 5, 9 and 13.

Died quite a few times on the chapter 13-15 run due to silly mistakes but i ended up with the fully upgraded plasma cutter and the hacker contact beam.

Luckily did zealot first otherwise it might have been too tempting to just use the hand cannon to zerg through and ruin the suspense.

I played dead space 1 before. From starting till the end, no surprise. Keep shooting, running, upgrading suit. That`s all.

So when i play the demo for dead space 2, still the same. The game is very very very long and yet running across the whole space craft.

No more number 2 for me. Bored already.

well you are playing DeadSpace like playing CS/Quake/UT, you should be a person that has no patience @ playing game like RPG

the reason why this game is a hit, thats bcoz ppl enjoy the enviroment thats being set in game, ppl playing it slow follow the flow of the game

u resemblance 1 of my friend, he play any FPS including FPS/RPG like playing CS/Quake/UT rush all the way, break the flow of game, throw of all the surprise the game developer made, in the end it wants "i finish the game with this xx time" "yeah"

Just get the second one, there's a 'last time on dead space' thing that will tell you what happened in the first game. This is a fantastic game that shouldn't be missed.

for me dead space 1 or 2 i prefer play casual mode 1st
coz there's bunch of health pack and ammo can stock in store

but this dead space 2, disappoint me a bit
coz no boss, no fun. i wait chapter after chapter still no sign
just 1 and only final chapter boss = nicole and some kind of tumor...haha

but overall it still a nice game

another sequel maybe?

Just noticed on my dashboard yesterday, Severed DLC is out for 560MSP.

It also adds 250GS to the game which means that for the completionists if you previously 100%ed the game, it is now incomplete...

However, I understand the hand cannon is available for use if you previously completed the game on hard core.

That's easy.. buy more MSP tongue.gif

There's so much good stuff on xbl arcade.. including Pac Man Championship Edition DX which is Deal of the week at only 400MSP..which is a kind of survival horror if you think about it. Limited Ammo, Ghosts who'll eat you etc...

Severed is about 30 minutes to 1 hour of gameplay. Pretty much the same like the main game. You'll get Gabe's Seeker Rifle and his rig for Isaac's story but they are pretty much useless imo. 90% of the environments and enemies are taken from the main game. Kind of regretted buying it since it doesn't do anything to the main storyline whatsoever. unsure.gif

Anyone complete Hardcore mode?
Any tips? cool2.gif

I was on my Hardcore play through and everything was going fine. I was thinking hey Hardcore isnt so bad afterall.
Then i reach the part where the game introduce the stasis and there is this necromorph running through the field.
So it was like this is easy, aim and shoot a frozen necro. Wrong!

The statis wear off instantly and the necro lunges at me. Well, you know what happens next laugh.gif

And there was once right at the beginning, where you gotta run from the necromorphs. I made a wrong turn and yea, you know what happens next laugh.gif

that is still ok, for me its more heart broken,u wanna know what happen ok, so i used my 3rd save at chapter 10, after going through the last 5 chapters (in other words i already beaten nichole and shit) and during the ellie rescue part everything was going fine until i miss judge one of the debris and ran into one, and u know what happens next, i died then i rage quit, i guess i was too over excited that i miss judge

That's right at the start tongue.gif

I played zealot difficulty first so i knew what the hard parts were and what to expect. Been a while since i 100%ed dead space My tips are

If I remember correctly my save games were at level 4 i think there's a bit where you can get 1 shotted there but i can't remember exactly, level 7-8(just before the elevator section) and level 12 (just after the driller in the tunnels) but that depends on how confident you are.

Upgrade health first, then plasma and cutter depending on how many nodes you have.

I had the hacker suit from playing dead space: ignition so that helped a bit.

Never have more than 2 weapons in your inventory, because it affects ammo drops. I pretty much just used plasma cutter (and another weapon can't remember what but the shot gun weapon is useful) up to the point when the contact gun is available (when i just respecced the second gun to the contact gun to get the aoe stasis). The aoe damage and stasis is pretty imba for the later levels.

Keep lots of health kits in your inventory and stay topped up, don't be stingy with using health kits.

Other than that it's not that difficult though it can be frustrating. Do you really need another 1000/1000, you're running out of space in your sig tongue.gif

@Kidicarus - Truthfully i actually have the Supernova pack DLC thus i do have a head start. I am using the forged plasma cutter and the forged engineering suit giving me extra damage and health bonus from med packs. And after all this arsenal of "cheats" in hand, i still died sweat.gif

Heck so glad to finally be able to see that orange bright light of the store. Finally i can show off my forged suit and plasma cutter. Those necros are gonna taste that sweet beam going through their hands and feets.

if you have dlc, you should face less frustating moments than what i had, i finish hardcore with no dlc...

what i did, i upgrade the stasis first, until got 4 energy, than 2 nodes on health...the rest go to ur weapon of choice.

my opinion the most effective weapon is the blade cutter, it save ammo compsumtion and kill almost all enemy type
except those pukers. second is detonator but you need to know exactly where the enemy will spawn so you know
where to put them.

Seeing that Tripod laying dead on the floor give me a sight of relief.
The nightmare isnt over when necromorphs and lurkers start swarming into the residential apartment. Glad to see my lovely plasma cutter doing its job well.

Then comes the exploder. It must be wise to use those explode pods against them. Effective and ammo saving. Good idea. Wrong!!

While i was holding onto a pod, another exploder came close behind me, and without thinking, my reflexes took over and i press the LT button.

After the train scene at the end of Chapter 2, dangling upside down.
Here comes a brute trying to maul you down and me holding the plasma cutter was undecided whether to shoot the brute or shoot that wire holding my leg.
I laid a couple of shots onto the brute, and then i changed my mind to shoot that wire.
Time runs out.

You don't really need get to disc 2 without saving to get this achievement. Also, with the 360 version, you get a free checkpoint where you change discs (unless they've patched this) as long as you don't switch off the xbox when you die.

You still do get a free checkpoint smile.gif And yes provided you dont switch off your xbox.
Thinking back it isnt really that hard to get to the free checkpoint. I only have myself to blame for not taking the necros seriously.
In hardcore, you cant save on your stasis or medpack or ammo. You just gotta unload it all into those damn things. The brute just before the disc change, i freeze it so bad it didnt even have time to move at least 3 feet before falling to the ground laugh.gif icon_idea.gif

Yea! Finally got through disc 2 with the free checkpoint. sweat.gif But didnt manage to get far after that. I made it to the place where you're supposed to ride the tram with Ellie before falling for a lurker doh.gif . It is around Chapter 10 i think. After that i made a save just after the free checkpoint, kind of wasted the free checkpoint but i am glad that i dont have to watch Franco in the intro ever again.

Its funny because i still has like 80% health and this 1 dark necromoprh just killed me with 1 attack.
Need to start from Chapter 7 again doh.gif . I think the part i died was Chapter 11.

Finally completed DS2 on Hardcore.
Things i would have done differently if i were to start a hardcore campaign again

1. Contact Beam(CB) and Plasma Cutter(PC) is the weapon of choice. I was using the Force Gun(FG) and the PC on my first couple of tries on hardcore and the FG might be the reason i died so many times at the start. The FG is a good crowd control acting close to a force shotgun. However the damage is relatively low and the nodes needed to fully maximize it is not worthy at all. The CB on the other hand has immense amount of damage (2 shots cuts a Brute's soldier). Dont forget there is NO damage node for the CB, you basically start with max damage for that weapon. The secondary fire of the CB does a AOE damage around you and coupled with its special, you can stasis the enemy too with the secondary fire.

2. Stasis is always your best friend. When danger lurks, like there is an exploder behind you or those small exploding babies or whatever pinch you're in, always choose to stasis. You might say this goes without saying. Yes, but do you really use the Aim+Y rather than that handy Aim+LT?! In my hardcore run i maxed out my stasis first followed by a mix of rig and CB (yes the CB first, check the upgrade field nodes for the gun and you know why).

3. The free checkpoint isnt really necessary. My choice of save has been one right after the free checkpoint and 1 more in the middle of Ishimura and the last being at the government sector beginning of Chapter 13. It is better to have a save somewhere between chapter 5 to 7 and then another at Ishimura and 1 more at chapter 13. I stress myself by trying to get pass to the free checkpoint and end up wasted some time.

It was a fun ride despite spending a bit of time on a 50g achievement. The hand cannon is worth the trouble.
Now blasting my way through zealot with my Kungfu Sejari really lighten me up after that stressful hardcore.
Zealot and Severed. Time to wrap this up.
