Did anyone go to Mid Valley today? I'd like some feedback from people who went there today who went there today. What did you all think?

I am very disappointed in the event and I'll post a longer more detailed post about it later but in the meantime, any feedback?

@ Dear mods, please leave the topic here. I'll close in Sunday night. Promise. biggrin.gif

PS: I believe Duke is in the events and organizing field, I was wondering if Duke had anything to do with this event?

Some of my complains on the event:

Regarding the ‘rules’ of the picture-taking process with the World Cup trophy. While we were told explicitly that we were not allowed to take our own photographs with the trophy, why were we not told in a similar fashion that we were not allowed to touch the glass case containing the trophy (emphasis on glass case). I feel sorry for the two elderly man in front of me who were walking with the aid of canes being shouted at rudely by your representative for having their arms gently touching the trophy case. Considering that there were a few others were screamed at and humiliated for similar reasons, I feel that this could have been avoided if you put up these instructions in writing.

The time we were allowed to spend with the World Cup trophy and have our picture taken with the trophy. THREE SECONDS. That is all that was given to us. This is by far, the biggest let down of the entire event. If I had been told that this were the case beforehand, I would not have bothered attending this event and I am sure many others too would have stayed at home. I understand the various reasons why you would not want us to take pictures with/of the trophy using our own cameras but why were we only allowed three seconds? I am sorry but I feel cheated that the event publicized that we could SEE the trophy in front of us with our very own eyes when all we were actually allowed was to have one lousy picture taken with the trophy within three seconds without being able to have a proper look at the trophy.

Those aren't my only complains but I would think people would complain TL; DR if I posted everything, thus I didn't add it.

I wrote it here instead:

Somehow I don't think it's the real trophy. Too risky because we know about security in Malaysia

I think the trophy shown here is real. The replica one is currently in the hands of the holders.

I don't know but the security was very tight. We had scanners there, security guards with bullet proof vests and people shouting at us not to touch the glass of the trophy case.

I wasn't shouted at but I feel sorry for two senior citizens who were shouted at and humiliated, leading me to feel disgusted today.

Even for a replica, that thing would be worth a lot so security is obviously tight. But i agree with kobe4bryant, if even a light touch by some elderly people also warrant a shout, and only 3 seconds to see and take pictures...definitely not worth going. When you're talking about such big event, fans want to savour the moment by themselves, live in that world for a while. 3 Seconds can barely take a picture, let alone look at the trophy closely.

The BPL trophy that was showcased in 2008 (or was it 09?) wasnt as near as strict as this, thats when you can see happy faces of fans with the pictures and the freedom to take as much pic as you want.

PS: love your avatar Kobe, my 2 favourite things combined thumbup.gif

I knew this gonna happen from the manner they sent those SMSes. Would it hurt them to include the info that we can also collect the tickets at MV on the event day in the initial SMS? Another thing that boils me is the double standard practised by the organiser. So the VIPs can touch and hold it while the general public aren't allowed to do so. They may have a valid excuse in the name of security but the least they can do is to give us a reasonable amount of time to have our photo taken with or without our own camera.

The one held 4 years ago at Times Square was much worse, even bordering on farcical! They barricaded the encased trophy about a good 1-2 metres from the general public. So much about getting up close and personal with the trophy!

I have attended the FA Cup trophy tour in 2005, UCL trophy tour in 2007 and the BPL trophy tour in 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them and there were no such nonsense to be found. The FIFA World Cup trophy tour organiser could do well to learn from them.

The trophy is already here on the 27th. 27th and 28th are exclusively for VIPs viewing including our Agung. It was brought to the palace on its first day too if I'm not mistaken. You can google those pictures of them holding the trophy easily.

Yeah i kinda agree with kobe. 3 seconds is too short, and they should allow us to let the staff to take photos for us using our cameras. Another disappointing part is me and 2 of my friends were in a picture together, and we were waiting to collect our pictures and it never came. The staff told us that they cancelled the picture because my friend was standing behind the trophy. How ridiculous is that? So we had to wait 10 minutes to had our pictures retaken (and get in the back of the line again).

During that 10 minutes, I showed some of my skills to the 'freestyler' there if anyone noticed. He's the one with his face painted and holding a ball. Overall, quite a disappointment for me and 2 of my friends. mad.gif

My friend's uncle held the trophy yesterday because he's a VIP. That was amazing, even just to think about it.

-----------------------

By the way, I totally agree with Daniel Teh, I didn't know that we weren't allowed to enter the exhibition hall again after taking photos with the world cup. We felt really cheated. And the 1.5l bottles of Coke spoilt the night for us.
