Previously DCU figures were RM79.90 now RM 99.90..refrain from buying 6 pcs to build a bigger figure and we can get Hot Toys.
Hasbro and Mattel are trying to profit from us cuz they know that toys are no longer for kids but for big boys with loaded wallet.
Marvel figures by ToyBiz was only RM 29.90 when i first saw them at TRU in 2005. After Marvel action figure rights acquired by Hasbro, 6 inch was retailing RM 39.90 only. NOw its the price for 3.75 inch hasbro MU figures.
Lately Hasbro also dun offer any MU 3.75 inch figures to my local TRU. Every week NERF NERF NERF only. SIen..
Surely by now ,the 2 top toy companies must know by now that their action figures market centers around adult collectors .Even my local TRUs and toy shops are frequented by working adults .
Yeah ,the good ol' days when Toybiz 6" ML line was sold for only RM 29.90 .Got whole of wave 6 ,most of waves 5 ,7 ,8 and 9 for that price .And I remembered getting 2 ML Blade from TRU ,and it was one of my successful hauls .
And they come with a comic or sculpted dio base stands or vehicles for a low price .Sigh ,the good ol' days .

It's not like toys are like comics... I mean, with comics you have omnibuses, absolute editions and what not and they're really value for money.
I mean, recently I purchased Thor by Walt Simonson Omnibus for RM426.00 less 30 per cent, and it collects all of the legendary creator's Thor stories (40 issues in total). And the colours on each panel, each page has been digitally remastered.
I also own Absolute Watchmen, Absolute New Frontier, Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc and yes, they're expensive but at least I get to read them, enjoy every detail of the artist's artwork, get myself transported into the story created by the writer(s) and artist(s) and re-read them again and again and get totally new experiences each time, discover new things etc.
So yeah, they're value for money purchases.
But when it comes to toys, spending over RM50, RM100, even RM300 for one plastic? I'd rather read comics and graphic novels.
I've been collecting Star Wars since the 70s but man, RM40 for one figure these days? And with Hasbro playing hide-and-seek with us, skipping waves even, jacking up prices as and when they feel like it as though we have no other avenues to buy them other than in TRU, Parkson, Isetan... well, please don't push it. I might decide to sell off my entire collection and send my kid to university and say bye bye to toys forever.
Seriously ,bro ?Selling your entire collection ?Not leaving some for nostalgic purpose ?
Speaking of omnibuses ,Hasbro's G.I. Joe ,SW ,MU ,TF and other previously short-lived movie based toy line did include boxsets comprising of several figs .So that's Hasbro's version of "omnibus" .
On a side note ,I do collect some of Dark Horse's omnibus offering ,plus most of Classic G.I. Joe Omnibus .But this is not the comics thread .
