Guys need some recommendation for a new laptop
1)Brand: Open to any suggestion 2)Budget: RM2400(+- RM200) 3)Specs: Erm not to familiar with the current specs but i would like a decent dedicated graphic card hard disk space of about >320gb and 2gb ram min. I had a look at the acer 4740g model which has the following specs
intel core it-430m processor Windows 7 home premium 500hdd/2gbddr3ram 14" screen nvidia geforce 310m with 512 dedicated ddr3 vram.
It seems to fit my criteria quiet well. But i am still open to other models. Could anyone tell me why some of the laptop graphic cards has the up to 3067mb of shared memory? Does it make a lot of difference?
4)Size: 13-15"
Thanks guys

QUOTE(Eugene91 @ Feb 10 2010, 09:15 PM) Obviously you have the Acer 4740G for RM2499(u can add RM198 for 3 years warranty) Exact specs u stated.. i5 430M 2gb DDR3 Nvidia GeForce 310M 500GB HDD 14" HD 720P Shared memory doesnt make any difference.. except when needed.. means it will take the memory from ur RAM if needed.. Yes the acer 4740g was what i saw on the newspaper hand out. However would that be the best choice? Any other choices that are similar to the acer 4740g? If i were to lower down to a netbook what would be the recommended model? thanks again

QUOTE QUOTE(luotang @ Feb 10 2010, 07:25 PM) how about the speen? also not much different right?
why do you say don't offer much price/performance ratio? isn't it cheap and has reasonable price?
625AU only costs 1499. i am considering it but it uses QL65 i don't know why......
Speed wise, not much difference unless you can differentiate 0.1ghz difference? Well, that model is one exception, for other model that around 2k or more, other brand offer much better spec... There's also Inspiron 14@Rm1499, T4400, GMA4500MHD, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd, but you do get original windows 7 basic for that price..

For that budget, 4740G would offer better value...

netbook with RM 2.4k you mean? Current value buy would be Acer 1810TZ@RM 1899 Thanks a lot buddy. Looks like acer 4740g leads my list now as for the netbook if i were to get it i will be looking for a unit with the price range not more then 1600. What model would be recommended? or is the 200 more for the acer model well worth it? This post has been edited by qsp1985: Feb 11 2010, 02:29 AM

ic.... thanks for the advise. the acer 1410t comes with windows 7 starter and 1gb ram only is that right? looks like like you said the 1810TZ is a much better value.
i jsut came aross the aspire 4736z. its retailing at 1899 with a pentium processor t4400 2.2ghz 1mb cache 800mhz FSB mobile intel 40gl express chipset. Just wondering why is a unit that has a 14" display retailing at the same rrp as the 1810tz. everything else but the processor and the screen looks the same to me
