Hi, my wife want me to buy a new notebook for her school work. Any suggestion? I'm not familiar with notebook and she want light notebook that cost below RM2k (cheaper is better). Probably 14" screen from dell or any other good notebook brand but not a netbook (no atom processor please).
Mostly for (from most to less): 1.Microsoft office 2.Internet (email, facebook etc.) 3.Image editing 4.TV series Already doing some searching and reading from internet but don't know how to pick. Hopefully can find one that can last at least 3 years. TQ. |

Do you need long battery life around 6 hours?
If yes, consider Acer 4810TZ@RM1999 If not, Dell inspiron 14@RM1499 is also good choice, then up the warranty to 3 years |

What brand I should search for. I see a lot of people usually student bought Acer because of the cheap price but when I ask our comp technician, he don't recommend Acer or compaq. He said not so good customer service and also hardware compatibility.
Anyway, will consider Acer 4810TZ but currently more to dell 14. |

Well, if you are more concern on customer service, then do really consider Dell, they are great as long you are still in warranty period
You can also consider Asus notebook, they by default comes with 2 years warranty., like Asus K40IJ@RM1999 |

i am looking for a new notebook with budget +-RM2000
I found that acer, dell and many brands has core i3 330 M processor and the price for acer is even around RM2000 why is i3 330M processor so cheap? is it good? how is it performance and temperature? and i found that compaq don't have much choice for i3 models instead, it is still using T4400 processor or QL65 which is very long time ago why compaq don't have new models on it? Acer also has Turion 2 M520 processor, but i don't see any compaq has this processor does compaq has it? can anybody tell me? if intel P series notebook has a price around RM2000, it is also OK. but i found that P series notebook is very high price can any one recommends me? i am looking for compaq, but it has not much choice. thank you. |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Feb 7 2010, 11:35 AM) Well, the i3 is supposed to replace the lower segment, T6xxx... normal student usageanyway, what's the usage? what screen size? no high end game playing... just normal usage and 14 inch screen. because larger screen corresponds to heavier i am quite particular in temperature of notebook that is why i am interested in P processors |

Well, you can't get P series for 2k...
Gaming wise, consider Asus K40AB, Lenovo G450.. |

Hello, a University student looking for a laptop ...
Since I'll be going to the UK this year the laptop will also be my " desktop " at the hostel =). Any recommendations for a laptop that is suitable for both gaming and work, durable and worth the money ? Budget = 4 k |
