Well, depends on how big the notebook you want.
16'' can consider Asus N61Ja@RM4999
15'' wise, can consider Dell Studio XPS 16.
If 14'' wise, can consider Vaio CW26@RM3999
Blu-ray wise, its depends on you, will you buy it to watch it? If not, stick with DVD to save the cost.

Just get it from shop, no need to wait for PC Fair, its just usually more freebies, but mostly just junk/unnecessary if you ask me...

QUOTE(KHOdin @ Mar 3 2010, 05:48 PM)
cus i not in a hurry my college intake in on may...
but VAIO pc fair will free u a bluetooth mouse which they selling at rm200+
i was wondering about blu ray disk for data not only movie isit still early to say that ?
any VAIO CW26 is just WXGA display does it have big different compare to DELL XPS 16 which is full HD display?
oh ya about laptop accessories any accessories that is must get ?sry for noob question new to laptop ...
*
Ow, the freebies I meant is mostly about 7-in-1/10-in-1 free items or something like that.
If its that bluetooth mouse, then its quite worthed it smile.gif
Well, about the saving data in BD, its mostly if you could justify the cost or not. For the moment, external HDD seems more practical to me...
Vaio CW26 have 1600x900 resolution, as for different compared with Dell XPS 16, well, the word and icon will be smaller for Dell.
Not necessary to get any accessories. Just get the one you need.

Well, for watching movies, the most important is the source itself...
If you just watching low quality movies, even any good screen can't help a little bit...

Well, cooler might be good, but see first if you think the heat is too much for you, then can consider one...

Help, i would like to buy a new laptop..budget around 4 to 4.5 k. Below three brand and spec which one is suitable for GAMING usage:

1. Toshiba qosmio F60 - Core i5 and Geforce GT 330M
2. lenovo y550 - Core i7 and GeForce GT 240M
3. Dell xps - Core i5

please tell me what is the price selling this 3 laptop in low yat?

thanks...
*
Toshiba RM4799
Lenovo RM4799
Dell, depends configuration,
Gaming wise, Dell XPS 16 > Lenovo Y550p > Toshiba Qosmio F60
You might want to consider Acer 5942G at this price point, RM 4799, i7 + ATi HD5650.

*
Well, there's recently an update pricelist on a store nearby my location and comes up with Ul30Vt, though I've only seen UL80Vt on display there. You might want to give them a call.
pricelist

thanks for reply...beside acer wat other brand+model u recommend for gaming laptop? price range is 4-4.5k....is it dell xps core i5 enuff for gaming?
*
i5 is more than enough mostly. With that budget, best performance notebook you can get is the Dell Studio XPS 16.

CODE
1. Brand: Image-Branded, and no issue for HOT
2. Budget: <3K
3. Specs: Gbps networking, Graphics Card, (COM Port *optional, but preferred*)
4. Size: 14"/15"

Hi, Im looking for recommendation for Hardwork/abuse-proof Laptop.
Laptop with Gbps and COM Port  its preferred for networking guys like me.
and can be "Abuse" also preferred, since im usually mobile.

Image Branded its also required (and NOT Okay if acer)
Since... if anyone see "Acer", they will look down to our company images
(i beleive you can understand what i mean)

Anyway...
Im also awaiting Quotation on my PM, Please do send if you have offer.
Further advice, recommendation, aware will be really appreciated

Thanks!  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Abuse-proof, I could only think of Lenovo ThinkPad, HP EliteBook and such...
but those are more than 3K...
You might want to consider HP Probook series.
And serial port is kinda hard to find nowadays in notebook, mostly on docking stations...iinm

QUOTE(bgkeh @ Mar 4 2010, 10:36 PM)
hello guys, i know this is laptop recommendation, but i dont want to make a new thread regarding my question.

if i buy a new laptop with 2gb ddr3 ram, should 1 or shouldnt i upgrade it to 4 gb?

thx in advance ^^
*
Well, 2gb should be enough for daily works, though 4gb seems to be the norm for nowadays.
It really depends on your usage.

Maybe because of the past experience on the Inspiron and XPS model which has Nvidia 8400M/8600M...

If 14'' can consider Vaio CW26@RM3999
13'' can consider Vaio S or if you can find Vaio SR, HP DM3 if doesn't need dvd drive.

Well, Vaio CW26 does offer one of the best spec for 14'' in malaysia, as for looks, it depends...

13'' wise, not much if you want to look for performance in it,since most recent 13'' notebooks is CULV based that offer battery life rather than performance. Though Vaio SR does offer some performance for its size. But it being replaced by Vaio S series which offer less performance.

You can consider Asus U80V, RM2799, quite light for a 14'' and quite stylish if you ask me, that if you don't feel inferior with its old generation technology...

i7 xxxQM and C2Q will crush i5.
Since these kind of application can utilize the extra core, so more cores is better.
Rendering is CPU job, GPU is for the work environment iinm, a lot of RAM also important...

Any notebook with that so far?
*
Closest that fit the requirement, Asus G51Jx@RM5.2k at mucro.asia
http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Asus-Note...s-G51Jx-A1.html
Else, only either the GPU (Acer 5942G/Asus N61Ja, i5 520M) or the screen (Dell SXPS 16)
