Dear all, notworthy.gif

I have done a final test today for the Dolby Digital 5.1 on Astro's B.yond HD broadcast.
This is after 10 days of testing.

Time of test: 4pm-5pm today, 27th. Wednesday, January 2010.
Location : Klang, Selangor.

All four HD channels are in Dolby Digital 5.1 with my AV Receiver's automatic source format as
Dolby Pro Logic PLXx Movie. The audio is excellent.

Surprisingly, some other non-HD channels are also in DD5.1!
Bravo to NTV7 as the only local TV dishing out superb sound. thumbup.gif

The radio channels were great too. rclxms.gif

Please go to my blog site at http://birdstalkingtoo.blogspot.com to see full details. Also to help
those who are confused to as what cables are required for the Astro's B.yond box, I have added
some pictures as a guide. A link is also stated if you want to do some testing for DD5.1 and your
individual speakers/sub-woofer.

Hope this helps.

Cheers and Regards icon_idea.gif

although the AVR states DD 5.1 ..it really depends on the program on that channel itself...some does not have surround...

DD Prologic is not DD5.1 coz the purpose of DD Prologic is to take a 2 channel source and turn it into virtual 5.1 surround.

If the source is 5.1 then AVR should display Dolby Digital instead with 5 (or 6) speaker indicators.

yupp...DPLII are only 'virtually' making stereo sound as 5.1, esp. on regular tv programs which are broadcasted in stereo...the rears are not really discrete separated channel...

those with true 5.1 DD will have 'dolby digital mark at the opening or ending part of the film/programme...newer stuff normally have these

I think you need to check you're set up. We aren't sending 5.1 on non HD channels.

He said he can feel it. But others said its not happening. TallJustin is an astro insider if I'm not mistaken.
