yes, its all on your memory stick. no need to update firmware, its nothing to do with it.

Before starting game. Make a new empty text file (notepad) name is e.g. "new.txt" and put it inside PSP/GAME folder. Then run the game.
Because whenever you play this game, it deletes the "/GAME" folder from the Memory Stick.
To solved your problem now. Just create "/GAME" folder again.
