1. What's the latest firmware?
- Depends... you have PSP1000, PSP2000 or PSP3000? For PSP1000 and most PSP2000, latest cfw is 5.50 GEN xx.
For PSP2000 with motherboard of ta-088v3, or PSP3000, latest cfw is 5.03 GEN xx.

This isn't rocket science... learn to differentiate.

5.50 GEN xx
PSP1000
PSP2000 (ta-088v2 or lower)

5.03 GEN xx
PSP2000 (ta-088v3)
PSP3000


2. How i know if i have PSP2000 with ta-088v3?
- when did u buy the psp? or a better question, what is the firmware that came with the PSP?
If it's 5.xx, it is VERY likely a ta-088v3. Another test you can do is use a jigkick battery (pandora)
and try to boot it to service mode... if it doesn't load, it's a PSP2000 ta-088v3 or a PSP3000. This process
will not brick ur PSP unless u did something horribly wrong.


3. What the difference 5.50 GEN and 5.03 GEN?
- Another noob question. Both are the same, except that 5.03 GEN runs on memory, this is why
you cannot turn it off else you gotta load chickhen again. That being said, PSP1000 and PSP2000
can run chickhen R2 and 5.03 GEN cfw too.... but who would do that? since they can already use 5.50 GEN
WHICH YOU CAN TURN OFF.... is this so hard to understand? It's not brain surgery

4. What's ofw and cfw?
- Ultra noob question. Ofw = OFFICIAL FirmWare
cfw = Custom Firmware
ofw is SONY's original firmware.
cfw is a firmware created based on ofw... it makes the PSP more powerful but unfortunately also
opens to the door to piracy. That being said, we do not encourage piracy... buy original.

4. Can my PSP be hacked?
- look at #1 + your current ofw must not be greater than 5.03.
If it's 5.04++, TOO BAD !!! Stop wasting bandwidth.

5. I have a PSPGO....
- LMAO... you noob, why did u have to go buy a failed device?
But fret not, if u still want cfw, a rumour has it that there is a vulnerability in 6.20 ofw,
so you'll never know... maybe one day there will be cfw for the GO, but i bet the capability
will be VERY limited.... hey, it's a failed device afterall.

6. Should i buy a PSP2000 or PSP3000?
- after reading the above, u still wanna ask this question?? OF COURSE PSP2000 cos it's far more stable.

7. Any last advice?
- Yes... if you already have cfw and plan to upgrade it but dunno what the latest cfw is, read #1.
If you have an earlier version of 5.03 GEN running and want to upgrade it, read #1 too. Don't be a smartass
and try to upgrade ur 5.03 GEN to 5.50 GEN unless u have a PSP1000 or a non ta-088v3 PSP2000.

you know how to check your memory card fake or not?

go to picture > memory card > press triangle > information. if it write magic gate supported then you got a genuine memory card, if unknown that its not a genuine mspd.

yeah 4gb can only store little game 3 or 4 maximum i think.

you can consider to buy photofast. its an adapter that can insert 2 microSD card into it, that mean if you got 2 8GB of microSD, you can insert it into the adapter and walah, you got 16GB of memory stick.

2 x8gb kingston class 2 microSD = rm170
1 x photofast = rm35

there are also some seller that bundle the memory card with the photofast, rm170,

a lil bit add-on:

microSD card got classes, when you buy the card you can see it on the card what class is it.
the higher the class the faster the transfer speed, and also the higher the price.

but here is a tip,the most important for a psp owner (or for me at least) is the size of the memory, bigger = more stuff/games can store.

even if you buy fast memory card, you still play the game the same as people who have a decent memory card.

This is depends, local set (asia set) come with 3 pin charger, export set, (US set) come with 2 pin charger.

the chickhen is in your memory stick, just format the new one with psp. then copy the chickhen file to it will do. then run it as usual.

So I just copy all the old chickhen files from my previous memory stick and that's it? no need to install the firmware right? I don't have experience installing becoz the old one was done at the shop i bought my PSP..thanks eeki

yes, its all on your memory stick. no need to update firmware, its nothing to do with it.
