noob question. Just got Byond installed. Havent activated yet so cant try. I am using an AVR. I understand that 5.1 DD cannot be transmitted through HDMI. So need to use Coaxial cable. Can I use normal RCA cable or I need to get a Coaxial cable. From what I read the difference is in the quality of the cable only.
Can the normal RCA cable carry 5.1 DD, Anyone know?

that was what i just read. Anyone here using Marantz 6004? Does it work? The AVR decodes DD. Added on January 28, 2010, 1:49 pmQUOTE(RAMChYLD @ Jan 28 2010, 01:21 PM) Yes, you can use regular RCA cable for Coaxial. I've been doing that for years with a DVD player Actually tho, TallJustin already posted correction. B.yond does carry 5.1DD through HDMI after all. Just have to make sure your AVR can process 5.1DD audio that's sent through HDMI and not just do a direct passthrough of the HDMI port to TV. I read that RCA might not carry 5.1, is that true? QUOTE(apexg2 @ Jan 26 2010, 08:15 AM) 3. DD5.1 (Dolby Digital 5.1 channel) Connect coaxial output to AV receiver. No issue getting DD5.1 with HDMI through AVR. No need coaxial.

QUOTE(rattan @ Jan 29 2010, 12:32 PM) Installer just came and installed B.yond a few hours ago in my house. After installing took almost 1 hour to activate the smart card. Really impressed with the HD channel quality. Alot of difference, picture quality improved by more then 50%, sound is also much better. Only thing that i find really funny is the decoder. I find it really ugly and not even a little bit of concept was put to it. Anyway its just a comment. Will upload the decoder picture. I like the new decoder. Black and sleek. Match the rest of my HT. Added on January 29, 2010, 12:47 pmQUOTE(Lone*Wolf @ Jan 29 2010, 12:42 PM) U shud have seen its imediate predecessor then, the only-its-mother-could-love Thomson. Honestly, the reason why I hurried installing Byond was also to get rid of the rubbish remote control I reprogrammed my Marantz remote to use Byong cause the astro byond remote is one very FUGLY remote... QUOTE(Lone*Wolf @ Jan 30 2010, 02:39 PM) Dunno about bass but they still havent equalise the volumes between SD snd HD channels after a month. Wonder will they ever do that? My AVR displays ( M-Norm +4 ) when switched to HD/Dolby. I suspect it is the Dolby issue.

QUOTE(Lone*Wolf @ Jan 30 2010, 03:10 PM) Try switching to stereo output on the decoder and compare? nope still the same. The AVR detecting a higher vol feed (+4).
