People, if you don't already have Astro on your FB list, add them now. After that, BOMBARD their wall, telling them your utmost displeasure with that nonsense.

We helped them launch Byond. And this is how they repay us?

Is there a topic on their FB wall that deals with this issue ?
*
No, but there are a lot of users who post about that already. You can post a new one also, to further highlight the issue.

Yeah right. We know that. So what if I like to watch fat Rooney? I pay Astro every month, so leave it to me as to how I would like my picture to be!

Of course they will take a long time in solving this. Astro is only efficient in one thing, that is to collect our money!!

So no one else gotten a call from Astro tech support?
*
I dun think so, anybody? But tech support usually will only call when there's a fault. This is NOT a fault! This is sheer stupidity by Asssterong. Shoving the zoom and pillarbox mode down our throats. Have all of you bombarded their FB page? If not, please do. I've also SMSed The Star. See if it gets published the next couple of days.

But it's not an Astro production. It is FIA and if they are going to do SD 16:9 and ESPNHD wants to programme it the the only option is to upscale.
*
FIA has World Feed for F1 in 16:9 right? Better if Astro/ESPNHD upscale that one. At least the AR won't be distorted.

thought they did? Looked right on my TV when I watched at end of qualifing yesterday
*
Ah, is it? No access to Byond now. Currently outstation. But people mentioned about timesheets being cut off, F1 logo not visible, qualifying timer not visible, etc.

come on man.. i dont want this to become like the poll in other thread...

i just want to know from the option available...
*
Hmm, ok then. More irritating? Of course zoom. Most stupid idea from Astro since the launch of Measat 1. What use is the correct AR if 20% of the information on the screen is missing? I'm really surprised Astro included this. If instead of zoom, they put the normal stretch, they won't be in this mess now.
As for the pillarbox, well, each of us is entitled to our own opinions, but I can still handle pillarbox. But personal preference would be stretch.

Should have bought a nice Samsung CRT. Coupled with the newer Thompson decoder with component output. And not be bothered at all about HD. At least can enjoy superb PQ on SD channels. Sigh...

you can still buy mah. Use LCD for DVD/Bluray.

While Astro use Samsung CRT....
*
Byond already mah. How can use CRT? If not for the 1 year contract, I'll go straightaway to Bukit Jalil now to shove the decoder down Assterung's back side.

Dunno bro. Maybe soon. Or maybe never.
I use Pillar box because it's nicer mah. No stretched people. I'm the one supposed to ask you
how can u using your LCD to watch in stretched mode? that's blasphemous...
no bro. Stretch mode is not important.
*
What's wrong with you? How can it be not important? We pay also, and we deserve to watch anyway we like. You like pillarbox? Fine, just STFU and enjoy your pillar box. Sheesh.

Hey look..its gogo2 going on and on and on again about his pillar box..
U just dont get it do you?
U might buy the LCD TV to watch in the CORRECT RATIO ASPECT thats why u watch in PILLAR BOX..
But get this in ur head boy, u are not the same with others
Some people buy big LCD or Plasma becaue they wanna see big full screen programmes on TV
They dont care if its the CORRECT RATIO ASPECT or if the picture is distorted..
They dont wanna buy big LCD Tv to watch in Pillar Box..they just want full screen..and not zoomed..get it?
So what if they are not watching it in the intended mode made by the director
People have choices..
N since when did u get ur PHD and make research saying all humans like pillar box?
Ur damn wrong there..there are many here who dont like pillar box so dont put words into people's mouth
Stop campaigning for people to watch in Pillar Box here..we have our own style of viewing
U wanna talk bout Pillar Box 24 hours a day?
Go start ur own thread!!!
*
Just let him rant. Don't layan him. He's probably just some kid with a lot of free time after SPM. He'll shut up if we ignore all his replies. We have more urgent issue now than to layan him.

So Astro is playing dirty eh?

I'm not sure if I should continue the debate here. I think Astro is doing community service here that
we should not fill up the screen of our LCD if the picture is stretched. Since you guys not accepting other
people opinion and still insist on stretched mode, i will feel sad bro. SD is not meant to be enjoyed in
stretched mode sad.gif
*
You're not sure? Let me make it easy for you then. GO AWAY! STFU! Find another subforum to squat on. We don't want to listen to you anymore! Sheesh. Ranting and ranting like apek. For God's sake.

AXN will be in HD in Southeast Asia starting May. I'm pretty sure Astro will get AXN HD on board. Since AXN is in the family package, everyone will get to enjoy AXN in HD.

bad sign. Remember MegaTV and MITV? Both also has limited coverage...
Yup. That's the advantage Astro has with satellite technology over others. Instant nationwide coverage. Unless a second satellite provider comes into the fray, no one will be able to match Astro in this area.

Your problem is similar to mine. But mine sometimes can reboot by itself suddenly when watching. I complained and an installer came and changed my box.

Unless Astro pulls AXN HD out of thin air like they did with ESPN HD (read: form the channel themselves). Currently that channel only available in Japan and Portugal, and apparently were specifically formed for the country only. And if Astro is not bothered to keep AXN Beyond permanently, will they even want to form AXN HD?
Bro, AXN HD will start beaming in Southeast Asia with two confirmed carriers starting in May. But so far, Astro has yet to confirm whether they are one of the carriers.
