set your b.yond box's TV settings to "stretch", and aspect ratio to "16:9"

press "info" on your remote, when it is HD channel, it will display "HD" on the info bar

use powered HDMI splitter or rf modulator

unplug av cable from SD decoder and plug into HD decoder
don't forget to transfer your sat cable as well

request 2 output LNB from astro, then you do not need to use splitter anymore
however you will have 2 cable running into your house, one for your SD astromax decoder, another for your B.yond HD decoder

sd decoders can share dish through splitter because they use only low frequency, but HD decoder can not because it switches both high and low frequency in LNB which could interfere with SD decoder if the dish shared

unavoidable
unless you want to watch SD channels only on both decoders, or can tolerate blank screen on SD box when watching HD channel on B.yond box

it would make a superb av/component video cable, if you know how to solder RCA plugs to it

for analogue video out, only composite and component video are available

try pressing "OK", then "Fav" button on the remote

yes, insist on a single RG6 cable connection from LNB to decoder, no join using black tape

the HD decoder will not indicate the channel's original resolution, but for HD it is either 1080i or 720p, for SD it is broadcast at 576i

if you select 1080i in the box, everything will be upscaled to be 1080i, your TV will then deinterlace it to become 1080p

if 720p is selected in the box, 576i will be upscaled, 1080i content will be down-scaled, your TV will again convert everything to 1080p

zoom is stupid, we want our stretch back

quick fix for those with HDTV, let the tv to do the stretching

to watch 4:3 aspect ratio SD channels on wide-screen HDTV properly, select pillar box

ask your plasma to do the yoga

from astro reply, it seems that astro are sticking to their guns, zoom is here to stay forever

the problem is that the zoom function will cut off some channel's sub-title+head+feet+logo+scrolling ticket

astro doesn't understand the american concept of "if things aren't broke, don't fix them"

unless there is massive drop in HD adoption rate, astro will not back down on zoom function
