* already complaining to astro regarding this problem... and they said their technical problem are now still in investigating.... 

I have called CS, and they are under the impression that this is a technical error done by the update. But I believe that Astro is purposely doing this and shoving the zoom and pillarbox format down our throat, hoping that we can accept. They were greatly mistaken.

The CS mentioned that they have received a lot of calls about that today. He even asked me straightaway upon answering,"Is this about the picture issue sir?" Nevertheless, he took my account number and phone number and filed a report. He also mentioned that another update may be done in the next 24 hours to fix this (somehow I doubt this), so try to leave the Byond box in standby.

If u have a Toshiba TV, (maybe other TV have this as well), set Astro to PillarBox

Go to MENU, then go to FUNCTION, then turn "4:3 Stretch" ON

The normal Wide, Super Live 2, Cinema 2, etc picture viewing mode wont work

I think u dont need to turn off "4:3 Stretch" if u want to view HD channels, cause it just stretch 4:3 source

Hi, anyone here has hooked up b.yond with HDMI direct to TV then Digital audio to surround system. Seems like not surround audio here.

Dare I say it but Astro at least have given us an option between Star Sports and ESPN HD for F1
I can accept the F1 on ESPN for now..

However..there might be trouble in the next couple of hours

EPL - Manchester United vs Fulham - 2145 - ESPN HD
but in reality
EPL - Manchester United vs Fulham - 2130 - ESPN

So..what will Astro do with the match on ESPN HD?
Start the match from the start or join in 15+minutes late?

why are you slapping your head over this?
the Man U/Fulham fan has option and knows full well that the games overlaps with the end of the F1 race.

They can now switch over to Ch 832 to see it in HD but they also would not have missed any of the game if watching it from Ch 812.

How would you have handled this situation differently Minimize?
You have one HD channel with rights to both events that overlap, what would you do differently?

No more pillar box..no other options that suits you...
Or u only have zoom mode and stretch..no more of ur beloved pillar box..
How would you feel for paying extra money and getting the best Tv but cannot watch according to ur style?

But damn..i know u dont like stretch mode and like pillar box but people have their own viewing style

My apologies for absence over the last week or two, I am currently in Japan working on an Ultra HD trial project!

From what I have seen here and on TallJustin blog there seems to be some real confusion here and the problem really seems to be that we have been getting TV 20 years behind the rest of the world (up until now!).

Well, ask astro themselves. But in this forum there are mention by some Lowyat members that there are no new HD channels this year. The source is from the CS. Doesn't know if the CS tell the truth or not.

Its not staying on top of the mountain, forgot to tell u guys i install a signal amplifier n at the same time my area of reception is also good without mountain n building blocking.

Buy a Logitech Harmony universal remote.

so the prob is now fixed. Should I subscribe to byond now or buy a 42" Full HD TV first?

Thanks astro for all the solved problems... in the afternoon astro CS called me asking if my byond ok or not.. and he said taht all ASTRO related channels will be in HD by the end of year...
