SAF should play 4-4-2 now. Clearly it's not working. We win possession in the centre yet no one to receive passes on the top half of the field. Berba would accommodate that nicely. Receive the pass and create chances for Rooney. At least he wins us FKs. What do you guys think?

agreed with box.. long passing to rooney really cannot work.. fletcher and carrick didnt come quick enuf to collect the loose ball.. rafael really make bellamy bengang.. huhu

i din see Fletcher and Carrick do any splitting passes at all. Its all Scholes or occasionally Giggs on the wing, the rest of the time its the 2 midfielders who pass back to defender and no choice have to hoof up the field either to find Rooney or to fend off incoming City players.
4-5-1 is clearly not working, it only creates an illusion to the defence that the strikers can hold down the long ball but in fact only Rooney is able to do it a couple of times in the first half. Giggs would wander into centre, leaving Evra to go up so often that it looks like a 4-4-2 in a very unbalanced fashion (1 RW, 3 CM and 2 ST with Giggs supporting Rooney) |
