How do we know when the Ovi maps are updated? After using it for 2 days, I find it very outdated. It directed me to turn against a one-way street, and another time directed me in a much longer navigation. And it's on a major road! Sigh... maybe we can start writing to Nokia to ask them to adopt Malfreemaps.

Yeah I understand no maps or navigation system is perfect... so back to the question, how do we know when Ovi maps is updated?

Right now organising my favourites on maps.ovi.com and synchronising with my mobile Ovi... much easier...

I meant the maps, not the Ovi application...

Browsed around the maps, they've gotta be at least 1 or 2 years old. Giant Kota Damansara and surrounding shophouses not even completed yet, can see the buildings' foundations only. I know what you guys will say, "oh it's free what". I know it's free, just a heads-up so you guys will take note and not rely on it 100% smile.gif

Oh thanks. You're right, I don't read manual before operating something, just like 95% of users here (hence all those questions we get). At least I read FP...

QUOTE(mono @ Jan 23 2010, 11:15 PM)
heya guys,
i've installed an app called KL Traffic which i downloaded from Ovi Store.
The thing is, there are TWO icons of the same app in my phone. One of it will open up that app when it click it. The other same icon does not open up the app if i click it BUT it's there, which kinda annoys me.
How do you delete it? I already uninstall that app, but that 'extra' icon is stilll there.
Thanks

Try restarting your phone. I had a similar problem last time which was solved after a restart.

Added on January 24, 2010, 1:44 amOkay, wanna try syncing my stuff OTA to Ovi.com. Didn't receive the sync settings so trying to set them up myself. Stuck on page 7/14 of the settings, where it prompts for the name of the "Remote database". Anybody knows?

EDIT: never mind, figured it out already.

anybody has this  'unique' screen protector design attached?

out of my 10 friends, 10 friends claiming it was an eye-soaring to be looked.

seller said it was mend to be this design for the mirror type...zzz

it looks like it has been bitten by a rat b4

sad
*
Yalor, like bitten by rat. My cheapskate RM10 SP has 2 nice holes on the top, one for the earpiece and one for the front camera, no jagged edges or anything.

BTW, what is eye-soaring?

Well, so far from my opinion on the games, there are none like those iPhone games which are high in graphics and are like those u play on the computer...all of the games are just either having poor graphics, or just craps...  smile.gif

So far the only multimedia game worth my time is Skyforce Reloaded. Of course there are other simple games like Sudoku, Airplane, etc...

Good point there bro, i guess no use if add POI but the map still does not have the new road, guess garmin-mfm still rules, the place i am working also listed just as a patch of jungle only in ovi maps.. hahaha
*
No wonder people still think Malaysians live on trees doh.gif

An area near my house also shows up as a jungle even though developed with shoplots and malls.

Hmm I got a problem with my tube. I realised nowadays, when I try to connect to a wifi signal which is not in my list of Destinations, it gets stuck. For example, I see a new wifi signal in the WLAN wizard. I click on it, select Connect, but nothing happens (open network). If it's password protected, it will prompt for WEP/WPA key, and if I enter correctly, nothing happens (just stay at the screen). I can confirm the wifi signal is working. What should I do other than hard reset?

i jsut got myself a black colour tube. one question, can i transfer my contacts from my previous sony ericsson phone to this 5800?
*
One method you can try (troublesome though):
1) send all contacts from SE to PC via Bluetooth as business cards (VCF format)
2) import all VCF from PC to Nokia phone via Bluetooth

You sound like you have Parkinson's... just joking... haha...
If it's so much trouble for you, better change phone. Why become unhappy every time someone calls, right?

Are you guys using clear SP or matte type? Clear SP has best clarity but is a fingerprint nightmare. Matte is fingerprint-proof but reduces the screen clarity, everything looks less striking. Any good SP to recommend? Using cheapskate SP for 6 months already, so far so good, just that always have to wipe it to get rid of smudges...

Don't say like that, we're all matured people who can tell both sides of a story. Don't tell me you're a Nokia fanboy?

5800 pros and cons:

Pro:
Touchscreen, big screen, high resolution (higher than iPhone)
Big user community, lots of apps, easy to find accessories
Good features for its price (3G, HSDPA, Bluetooth, wifi, GPS, auto-focus camera, front camera, accelerometer, etc)
Video recording at 30fps
Resistive screen (I prefer resistive) - can use stylus, nails, fingers, pen, plectrum, anything!
Very good sound quality

Cons:
S60 5th ed UI is dated, not as polished as WinMo / iPhone / Android
Possible memory card problems with the bundled card
Camera performance not so good for 3.2MP (can tweak, though)

Anybody used expenses app on tube? I was using Handy Expense on my previous S60v3 phone, but it sucked for S60v5. Tried Best Expense, it couldn't summarise for a selected month. Now trying Light Wallet, but it's Java-based, no kinetic scrolling and UI not the best to use, but functionality seems good. Would like to hear if anybody else is using others...

hi ahpingko,
i have the same experience with u. just got my tube and transfer contacts from my G900 is a headache. i end up copy from G900 phone -> sim card -> copy to tube.

i tried few ways:
1. bluetooth, only can transfer 1 by 1
2. backup, then transfer to pc, cannot load all to tube except 1 contact.
3. sync with pc or G900, fail.

finally, copy to sim and copy to tube. hahaha...anyway, i still got backup copy in my pc. coz in sim card is limited contacts only. the missing one i will copy/transfer 1 by 1 from pc.

hope this helps.
*
Can't you select all contacts on G900 then send via Bluetooth to N5800?

Yes kinetic scrolling. It still scrolls after you have released your finger. The faster you flick, the faster it scrolls.

I charged my phone just now with screen unlocked. When it completed charging, the screen lit up... then turned dark. So I guess the charging bug will not affect charging if the phone is unlocked smile.gif
