First off this thread is created to share on the undervolting experience of users in here.

Warning!~ Do not try if you're worried about things going wrong! I am not responsible!

In the mean time please refer to the Guide link below..

Click! Me!The "Undervolting" Guide from NBR Forumer Click! Me!

Advantages(According to FlipFire,NBR,2008)
- Cooler CPU (5 to 20c cooler)
- More battery life (15-30mins more)
- Less Fan noise & activity
- Longer overall notebook life
- Eco-Friendly

Disadvantages/Risks:(According to FlipFire,NBR,2008)
- BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)
****Only Risk so far noted, waiting for other forumers who UV their procs to share smile.gif****

Attention!~ Windows 7 Users!:
When using RMClock on Windows 7 this need to be done:

in RMC in Management disable OS power management integration
in W7 in power plan in Minimum processor state set 100%

and now RMC is taking control of processor and Windows 7 of the rest

Update!~

22/1/2010 - Hey undervolters i wan to make a list of ppl who did undervolting so please state your details like this:

Laptop Model:
Processor Model:[Model]@[Clockspeed], [FSB], [Cache], [Processor Technology (nm)], Wattage
Stable Undervolted Voltage:FID: VID:
___________________________________________________________________________________________________

27/01/2010 - Windows 7 Users!
Attention if ur using Windows 7 Follow this:

Management>Untick Enable OS Power Management Intergration

Also some ppl in NBR suggest to untick Engage IDA under the Advanced CPU Tab.

It could be windows 7 and RMClock power management conflict.. Since it wasnt developed for Windows 7..

I do undervolt my CPU, which is AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 from 1.1V (IIRC) to 1.05V and in power saving mode is 1.05GHz 0.9V. Less heat even when gaming, more battery life when using battery. My opinion? I recommend it to everyone, its not dangerous, and its a lot of benefits like you said. The BSOD is because you don't do any reading before doing it, each CPU have its own limit on how low you could go

I use k10stat to undervolt my CPU, I don't know how on Intel side though

quite good, managed to cut around 10C on my t2250 smile.gif
if using rmclock, then just need to quit it to restore back the voltage.

if like that, not sure...
since if rmclock not running, it should run at default voltage...

I straight away undervolt my L510-S4314 since I bought it.
Manage to reduce all multipliers (6.0x - 11.0x) from 1.15volt into 0.975volt, which is actually from the maximum to the minimum volt. Until now no any problems for me.

What I don't understand is,

For my laptop, all of the multipliers (6.0x - 11.0x) default volt is at the maximum. But, when I read through the post it shows that their laptop each multiplier with the default of different volt...

Secondly, when I check the cpu info, sometimes it jumps to 1.15volt although I had already set it's maximum to 0.975volt

Yeah that's what happens when i disable RMclock lol.. From Stock 1.1125 jump to 1.2V weird..

@Jt202
Anyway seems pretty awesome you managed to get all your multiplier down to the minimum VID smile.gif

Although theres a buddy of mine saying.. Imagine yourself you eat 3x a day and suddenly you only eat 1x a day.. Imagine dat situation happening to your CPU lol..

Nah, most CPU have higher voltage that they ever used. Like us, most of us eat more than we ever need, that is why the obesity increased nowadays

haha true enuf smile.gif Do you realise even on power saving mode(on Battery and AC) the proc still goes up to max clocks? Normally or before it would be at only 1.6GHz lol for my system of course.. I wonder if there's a way to set it like dat..

On AMD system (at least on my laptop) it never goes to full speed when running on batteries even when playing games unless I forced it in k10stat, maybe it have something to do with Windows Power Options

the Blue Screen if an error occurs with the system. In using RMClocks case, restart to safe mode.. and go to msconfig, disable rmclock from startup.. smile.gif
