Braynumb: Canon does not have AF with Zeiss ZE lenses!

And don't be a sheep. If somebody jump means you must jump ah?

I find it quite silly that there are people here who tend to follow without knowing why. One fella sells his 16-105mm, then another fella with a 16-105mm also wonders why but decides to sell anyway. One fella gets a split focusing screen, suddenly a lot of people want it, but they don't understand what it is for and when it cannot be used.
*
Ok... I stand Corrected... so the ZE mount's contacts are for focus confirmation izzit?

didn't say must jump la... sticking with Sony anyways...

waaa... the contax N looks gorgeous! biggrin.gif a great collector's item... biggrin.gif btw, the Zeiss Icon is a film camera right? albert, with film cameras, if the film is ISO400, does it mean that i can't/shouldn't set my camera to more than ISO400 or i can, but would cause noise?

QUOTE(kysham @ Jan 26 2010, 11:34 AM)
Bro, films have fixed ISO values. You cannot push the ISO values of film. If you increase the camera's ISO setting, you will only cause the shot to be underexposed (because the camera thinks you are using a higher ISO value film, but in actual fact you are not). Noise in DSLR is only relevant because it is digital noise. Film is analogue, so it doesn't have digital noise. Having said that, higher ISO films have grains.... these are very different than digital noise and in some cases is actually quite pleasing.

I remember I used to have ISO400 films and I have to store them in my fridge because at ambient temperature, the film will go haywire....  tongue.gif
*
what do u mean by the film will go haywire?so, in other words, to ensure the right type of exposure with a film cam is by using flash rite? need to get me another flash for my EOS 1000 film cam! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(albnok @ Jan 26 2010, 12:18 PM)
Yes the Zeiss Ikon is a film rangefinder.

Yes, you can 'push' film by processing it longer e.g. 8 minutes instead of 4 minutes. This was common practice with some black-and-white films which have no fixed ASA value but work approximately best at ASA400. Black-and-white films have the most flexibility; color negatives in between; color positive slide film has the lowest flexibility and latitude.

signither: No idea but when it was under warranty it was free. Let us know!

ReaperOfSoul: Your masking isn't done well. Use a gradient instead. Also, do multiple exposures instead of one RAW - that will increase tonality.
*
another question albert is, after taking pics with the EOS 1000, I sent the film for processing. but the pictures were full of dust and particles. but when scanning the negatives, there were no dust on the negatives, so, what happened actually? was it because of the camera, negative or did it happen during processing??

Just got a message from brettania in dyxum! my butterfly picture was one of the pics in the 136th Dyxum Galleries Exhibition Photo Of The Week! biggrin.gif yay!

QUOTE(albnok @ Jan 26 2010, 03:31 PM)
kysham: It does.

You use ASA400 film with the camera set to ASA800 (thus causing the meter to underexpose 1 stop.) Then you push the film 1 stop up effectively giving it ASA800 exposure.

Digital sensors work the same way - your base ISO is either ISO100 (CCD) or ISO200 (all Alpha CMOS dSLRs) and every other ISO is just an underexposed and then amplified signal.

Braynumb: Your scanner might have Digital ICE:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_ICE

Congratulations on making it to the exhibition!

clivengu: Actually if you're talking about classic cameras, I like them clean with just shutter, ISO and aperture dials.

Minolta X300 with Seagull 50mm F1.8 MD lens. Aperture Priority capable camera.

tanjq87: Congratulations!

achew: I have to credit the light the most - the sunlight was really nice. A lot of us forget to shoot when the light is great!
*
Might be have the Digital ICE... not sure... hehehe... all I know is that it can scan negatives and turn it into digital images... hehehe... office scanner that is... tongue.gif

thanks albert! really was shocked to see my pic in the list... biggrin.gif

Yeah... the early morning sunlight in the pictures are wonderful! absolutely the perfect natural lighting tool for that kind of shot...

QUOTE(achew @ Jan 26 2010, 03:32 PM)
somehow i find that the natural light(sun) in tw is lot better than what we have here..and they have lots of nice sceneries to compliment the nice models...
sharpness wise..err..i dont really find it razor sharp la..probably just nice for portrait....too sharp isnt a good thing for portrait....u shd try to use a macro lens for portrait and u'll know y =D

for ur shot..err..im not sure..maybe misfocused?

QUOTE(achew @ Jan 26 2010, 03:35 PM)
yup..sunlight is very very impt element as i mentioned previously..personally i prefer evening light..or early morning..the sun from 830am~530pm is just too strong for my liking.. >.<

yeah... the lighting is seriously nice... wonder where the place is...

yeah... it was misfocused... tongue.gif had the lens on fully manual... somehow my mistake, not to double check... but either way, love this shot... hehehe... had it in my mind for a month before the shoot... biggrin.gif

730am-8am here in Kuching is just nice for morning shoot... biggrin.gif if it's after that, then it's time for wireless flash! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ReasonsofThanatos @ Jan 26 2010, 03:41 PM)
but i prefer d morning light...those at 10-11am is great for me,though i'd love to shoot in d afternoon sun more..but m'sia's weather...2-3pm sunlight will kill d photog n d model sweat.gif
