but my calculation of the estimated price is inclusive of the conversion from NYD -> MYR. If launch in malaysia straight maybe can be even lower, like about MYR2k, then in that case it will be MYR560 lesser than a550 which i think can consider given that both are nearly identical bar the LCD and live view.

for a start..u can always use AP or SP to take 1 shot....depend on the result..adjust ur Aperture and Shutter accordingly in M mode..after awhile u can roughly tell how aperture/shutter to use..but anyway..for me....i only use M when im playing with the lighting(flash/highkey/lowkey/silhouette etc etc)..if not AP & SP is enough to serve my needs...

I vote for 2670z due for the good range on portraits ...

1635z may suite more for close-range portrait or landscape? 

2470.. FTW.. th range is nicer (portrait and also a bit wide altho not as wide as 1635)
i'd used 2470 (not the G one lah, tamron for my D90) and the range is comfortable..
its all about how comfortable u are with ur lens..
if ure comfy with 1635 then good for you. go for it!
about the sharpness.. no comment coz never test both lens side by side.. but as long as it's G then.. make.believe

constant aperture? 2470 is a FF lens while 1680 is an apsc lens... n ssm on 2470 is reaaally fast~

2470ZA definitely much sharper and produces much better quality pictures compared to 1680ZA lo. (:
