lwliam: yeap...sold of everything that i got previously...widest i have now is 24mm
*
previously before i had my 11-18, the widest is 28 mm... its starting to get pretty restrictive after a while... when i got my UWA, everythings just frees up... feels so much more relaxed

thats how i felt anyway

hmmm that is debatable lwliam....i actually dont really like distorted photos...i find them.......weird a bit ahahah...also fisheye is not to my taste...

if i can find the perfect focal range that begins JUST before distortion sets in....that would be my ideal wide!

so it depends on individual pref though...

given the choice(leave money out of the equation)..id gladly take the 24-70.... but funds dont allow....the f 2.8 and SSM would be PWNING!
*
i know what u mean when u say distorted, but sometimes in tight conditions it really saves the day (and even with pronounced distortion) it gives more kick than just any regular joe's photos. but it of coz boils down to preference.

i can see...ahahah from ur gears...u r just waiting to go FF...i on the other hand...prolly wont go..... i dont see the need... smile.gif

*

lwliam, weixuan: i'm planning to upgrade to FF once the replacement for A900 comes out...so...just need to tahan till i get my FF...

24mm on FF should be comfortable enough...compare to aps-c

lwliam: previously i had my sigma 10-20, 16-80 and 18-250...base exif...all my shots are usually taken avgly at 30-60mm...so...24-70 will fit my style just fine...
*
24 on FF is like 16 on apsc... do sony have 14-24 like canon and nikon does with their trinity?

albert, by unique, what do u mean? that they have a choice either/or? or the 14-24 is a lower end version of the UWA trinity?

you could frame it to be a little bit more tighter on the left side, maintain the right end as the shadow is the one that made this photo stands out. apart from this, its a keeper

errr... the subject is not at AF point that i selected? i remember that sifu albnok says cannot recompose...
*
doh.gif its not cannot recompose, you just follow words to the letter don't you?

its to choose the nearest focusing point to your intended subject and recompose from there. food for thought - a photograph is static, you on the other hand is fluid and alive.

QUOTE(signither @ Jan 27 2010, 01:15 AM)
is F20AM sufficient for a backup flash?? i bring my A100 to work everyday, but as we all know, A100 ISO is quite bad.. so most of the time pumping up ISO is not the option.. the built-in flash also sometimes is not good enough.. so, if i want to get a flash for my A100, would F20 be okay, or shuld i invest more for F42.. don't say F58 because i already have one, and dont really like the idea to bring it to work everyday sweat.gif
*
if i were to choose to carry F42 and F58, i'd carry the 58. there's not much difference in bulk anyway, the f20 on the other hand is much more compact, what i think is that if u have the money to spend on an F20, then it could be a good 'pop up flash'

Hmmm is it wise to trade my a700 with a quite new a550? :/
*
getting the A550 as a second body is a sounder choice than to trade with it.

to me, changing body is needed only when you have reached the limits of your current one.
taking myself for example, i had to let go of my A100 for my current one coz of the higher ISO demands for my wedding photoshoots.
so as long as you still have the limit to push for your current gear, keep pushing it smile.gif

or it could be the lens' umpteenth time knocking on hard surfaces, and so it finally gave way

i believe it's all base on personal preference...i prefer to stay closer to my subject...that is why i choose 85mm than 135mm...smile.gif

in this thread...we can only give personal opinion and guidance...but the conclusion is all up to the user...it's how comfortable is he with lens he chooses...

e.g: i heard a lot a chats and review saying 135mm is a better lens when comes to distance..but personally...i still prefer 85mm after comparing it with 135mm

my 2 cents
*
true, so if for me at least, its ok if you're using the 85 on an apsc, then it fits nicely..

QUOTE(signither @ Jan 28 2010, 11:20 AM)
more please drool.gif
the thing is, i am not using FF wor sweat.gif
*
no, i mean, in any case if in the future ur planning on going FF, then for me it could be wiser to get the 105/135
but if apsc all the way, then 85 it is..

true true. boring ppl like me dun go concert...only snap my son pic...rclxm9.gif...that is the reason why i purchase this 85mm in the 1st place...

lwliam: i buy my lens for my future 35mm body...brows.gif...i've tried it with a900 on both lens...85mm is a bit nearer to the subject...that is the reason 85mm is in my loot now...
