Hi,

Recently my iphone 2g went crazy by shutting down by itself intermittently. After reboot, the date/time all set back to default. This won't happen when the iphone is in charging. I suspect the battery is dead but how do i confirm this?

And also there is some noice when shaking the iphone, seems like something is loosen inside.

Any idea what is happening to my iphone?

Thanks for all great help.

No idea whats wrong with ur iphone, But sometimes my i3GS auto shuts down regardless the % of battery. As for the noise cause by shaking, perhaps something cracked if u drop ur phone. My friends 3GS has some noise when shaking however his phone still in working condition with no problems..

mostly is because of batt issue. i had this occurrences when i received my 3GS. very unlucky indeed. totally died after a little bit less than 3 days of age shocking.gif

got a brand new replacement for it.

all the best for your case.

It might not be the battery but could be something to do with the battery meter. The 3GS I use for testing has this problem and what I notice when it shut down right when I am looking at it is that the batter indicator goes right down to 0 just before the shutdown. However after powering up, the battery indicator is back to normal.

To troubleshoot, first backup your phone then restore the firmware from iTunes. Don't restore from your backup yet but try to use the phone as it is for the time being and see if the problem persists or not. If no then it's software related and restoring from your backup might cause the problem to occur again. If yes then bring the phone back to the service to claim warranty

Ahh.. didn't see that. Well, if that's the case, then this is quite a tough bit then. But the thing to try still is the firmware restore without restoring from backup, and see if that helps or not. If it does, then its something software related.

Might be the battery. BTW, the battery for 2G is soldered to the board, not like 3G or 3Gs.
