Guys, am looking for a fine dining chinese restaurant in Penang that serves set dinner during CNY.

Actually its reunion dinner la, anyone got any recommendations?

Been to Golden Phoenix at Equotorial Penang last year, the food is great, but thinking to look for other choice this year.

Budget is less than RM1k , for 5 person only. any recommend? tongue.gif

xi lai teng, heard b4?

or u can go tambun, there are lots of seafood restaurants there.

if u want high class seafood (the food, not the place), go raja uda ah keat restaurant.

u want BEST crab dish, then go sg bakap, soon chi restaurant.

samlee860407 - wa lua eh! Looking for a fine dining chinese restaurant in Penang that serves set dinner for re-union party during CNY!
Here is someone's advice icon_rolleyes.gif
QUOTE(samlee860407 @ Jan 10 2010, 11:33 AM)
i won't worry much about traffic jam during CNY, i worry more about where to eat during the 1st 2 days of CNY
1st: find parking susah riao
2nd: when got parking, go down shop need to wait for table
3rd: got table riao when order need to wait  long long
4th: food sux
5th: price although mahal compare to normal, but its nothing if compare to 1st few things i mentioned.....

btw, for people that not familiar with penang, lagi susah lol. coz tak tau how to go =  stuck at traffic jam longer

tak tau where to eat (coz close shop) = spend time on the road more too lol

If after all these, you still want, then I suggest
>> BOOKED THE PLACE NOW!!!!

You can try these...
Tian Tian (Everyday Supreme) Restaurant @ Red Rock Hotel, Macalister Road
CRC restaurant, Burmah Rd
Golden Phoenix, HOTEL EQUATORIAL (Yup I know you already go)

So far these 3 places was ok for me last year, in terms of
3rd: got table riao when order NO NEED to wait long long.
4th: food good and nias thumbup.gif

Goh Swee Kee, Feng Wei, Starview and May Garden (one beside Cititel Penang), can't go wan during CNY, many times already very disappointed. Scared to try liao, but if you go let us know if the situation improves.

Starview Restaurant. Nearby New World Park. But be careful, i searched through Google, and found that there's 2 identical restaurant. I'm not sure whether if they have shifted place into New World Park or what.

There's 2 branches. 1 in Penang Burmah Road (in the same road with Tune Hotel) and another 1 in Megamall Pinang Butterworth.

Well, it surprised me when you say "fine dining Chinese Restaurant". Fine dining for me means the environment is quiet, like Mansion 32 nearby E&O hotel. There's no such thing for Chinese restaurant as all Chinese eat so loud. That's Chinese spirit. tongue.gif

I'm a Chinese. biggrin.gif

Ayo, Penang good Chinese restaurant for fine dining very rare. When he meant fine dining, he meant fine food. Good Chinese restaurant with nice environment which u meant classy has none because Chinese don't operate restaurant like European which is quiet and peaceful . If the place is not noisy than the restaurant is sux. If u want nice environment and nice food in Penang, go to Eden seafood in batu ferringghi, Maple gold club, gurney drive has one .

Tried once at starview, the branch besides megamall (Prai area), very good as long as willing to pay the price (custom order), just the area not as classy...

Anyone try at the Ming Garden in penang time square?
