ok, so i just did my visa few days ago. damn easy. compared the e-visa vs doing it with everfine services in masjid jamek. in the end its cheaper doing it via the agent (RM142 vs USD 50 via e-visa).

just bring the necessary (passport, 2 passport size photos, photostat copy of passport... ) went there in the morning, no 1 at all. filled up the form, terus went to the counter, pass up everything (before that the pak guard will help to check n etc to ensure all is in order), pay the necessary fee (RM 110 + RM 30 + gst), ur done.

collect in the same day around 4pm. kautim. i think its valid til march (90 days perhaps)

saw lots passport in the collection basket when the counter lady took my passport during the evening, looks like we fellow msians r beginning to flock to myanmar for holiday i suppose..
*
nice.. where are you going in myanmar?
I just went to the Golden Rock. The one-day trip was tiring but it was a good experience!

Working here actually. Could you share me your itinerary?
There's not really much to do in Yangon, aside from going to Shwe Dagon, Bogyoke market and Gem museum (to buy gemstones, not the museum)

we are not reli firm on the itinerary yet. but based on what we read, 2 full days in each place (except yangon) is bare minimum thus we plan in such way

mdl
- mandalay hill and palace
- the bridge

bagan
- self guided temple exploration

inle
- boat ride

ygn
- that pagoda which i cant spell it out now =)

whats your experience in USD / kyat there? how did u ordered pristine uSD bill back in malaysia (if u did)
*
The pagoda ur referring to is Shwe Dagon Pagoda.
I went to exchange my USD at ampang park (facing main road).
I just told the person i need new USD notes for Myanmar and he understood. However, make sure you check. Any chops are not accepted too. Btw, you need to declare at the airport if you bring in more than 2k usd.

Hope you have enough money to purchase some souvenirs (gemstones, jades, etc) before you fly back smile.gif

They are not so picky about kyat notes being dirty or folded right?
*
Most of the notes are dirty and black (I recommend you use an old wallet and separate your notes from the clean notes). they might be particular if it is slightly torn.

I can't decide where to stay in Bagan. New Bagan or Nyaung U?
How far are they apart to the pagodas for sunrise/sunset?

Planning to go Myanmar during cny week is that possible? I mean are those attractions or shops opened? Is Myanmar and Laos trip in8days doable? Has anyone of u travel from Myanmar to Laos or vice versa?
*
I don't think Myanmar celebrates CNY. All the shops should be open as usual.
Just to be safe, check the public holidays.

I only booked 5 days to Yangon.
Please share your itinerary. is it more advisable to take bus or train to Bagan or flight?
How much is the visa?
*
Flight if you can afford. There is overnight bus that has big comfy seats but it is a long journey.

I heard a lot stories of their domestic flight. Lots of crashes?
Train is even longer journey right? 17 hours or something like that.
*
Yes. Train is veryyyy long. I took bus to bagan and flight return.
To be frank, i didnt have much shut eye in the bus.. plus alot of the taxi drivers waiting to fetch u at the bus stop in bagan gave me a bad experience..

QUOTE(wyen @ Oct 21 2016, 09:12 PM)
HI need yr advice regarding my iternary Myanmar on Feb 2017 for 8 days 7 nights. Thanks

Day 1 - Took morning flight to Yangon. Stay overnight.

Day 2 - Took flight to Bagan. Stay overnight at Bagan.

Day 3 - whole day in Bagan. Stay overnight at Bagan.

Day 4 - Day bus from Bagan to Inle.(JJ express) Stay overnight at Inle

Day 5 - Day tour Inle. Overnight at Inle

Day 6 - Spend half day around Inle. Take overnight bus from Inle to Yangon (JJ express)

Day 7 - Reach Yangon early morning. stay overnight.

Day 8 - morning flight back to Malaysia.

Question:

Which airline Yangon to Bagan will u take? I saw Bagan air, Yangon airways but any idea how to make booking. Can i make booking straight at the airport? How much wud it cost?
Anyone took e-bike before? Can the person who cant cycle can ride on it?

Thanks
*
That's pretty hectic.. Why not fly straight to Bagan?
Anyway, I tried the overnight bus to Bagan and back via plane. Took Air Bagan, pretty nice. Price is in USD tho.. the prices are pretty much similar. Depends on the your suitable timing too.
Make sure you get a airport shuttle from the hotel if possible to avoid those hagglers.

Since i will arrive Yangon early morning, better to rest early before taking any flight to Bagan. I searched Yangon - Bagan mostly all early morning flights. Saw their table and seems they have winter and summer schedule?
*
Yup.. they have early morning and evening flights.. yes winter is end of the year i believe and summer is like middle of the year (google the actual dates..)

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Oct 21 2016, 10:33 PM)
Prices in Myanmar are increasing by the year, so I'm not surprised

JJ bus is a very popular bus company in myanmar, however you may need to book in advance because getting tickets on the spot is just not possible during peak. You can pm their fb and provide your name and passport number, and they'll reserve a seat for you
*
Agreed. I did that, and they are quite fast in replying. The seats are like airplane seats. However, it was really chilly and bumpy, so I didn't sleep well. Apart from that, it was quite worth the price compared to plane..

How to do that? lol. USD20 for zone fee is a rip off. Im going to reach Bagan from Yangon thru flights
*
not sure via flight, but the taxi drivers there do know a way to sneak pass the guards. It didn't felt right for me, so I told the taxi driver to just proceed with paying (the taxi driver was dodgy and kept promoting to provide tour guide while I was planning to rent a scooter and self travel)

You sure want to fly domestic inside Yangon? It will cost you 300 USD 2 way ticket to Bagan.

For me it doest worth it.
*
For me, I took bus to Bagan and back via flight, just for experience.
I agree the domestic flight is really expensive (the flight was like one hour, less I think), but the overnight bus ride was too bumpy for me and I hardly could sleep.. the next day I was so tired to do much.

Hi, how did you arrange for the flight? I am looking to avoid entirely travelling on overnight bus. So, want to budget for flights. Thanks.
*
i just bought it online. I compared a few and took the cheapest one (was still expensive! lol), Air Bagan.
The flight was less than an hour from Bagan to Yangon airport..
