QUOTE(cradle0fFilth @ Jan 18 2016, 09:29 PM) Myanmar is awesome. i bloody love both Bagan and Inle. Would love to stay another week or so longer to check out the the Gokteik viaduct train ride (Mandalay to Hsipaw), Golden Rock (can do 1 day trip from Yangon), Ngapali beaches / Mrauk U ruins in the west, 3D2N trek from Kalaw to Inle... but we just cant fit them all in our 12 days itinerary. Anyway, cheers Great and very detailed review.

QUOTE(wyen @ Jun 10 2016, 09:53 PM) Planning to go Myanmar during cny week is that possible? I mean are those attractions or shops opened? Is Myanmar and Laos trip in8days doable? Has anyone of u travel from Myanmar to Laos or vice versa? I haven't been to laos or myanmar but 8 days for 2 countries is do able. But you will spend more time on travelling from one place to another than actually travelling. Just stick to one country.

Quick question since want to book the cheap air tickets for the current airasia sale.
planning to fly in to yangon, and fly back from mandalay.
so... based on the dates i have chosen i have about 12 whole days of travelling (excluding flying out). would that give me enough time to cover, yangon, bagan, mandalay, inle, and hsipaw?
maybe i can stretch it to 14 whole days of travelling... maybe...

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Jul 26 2016, 10:11 PM) 12 days is just barely enough to see these places. But I think you should have no problem if you choose what you wanna see. I did Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay in 8 days, it was just nice to see almost everything. Then another 10 days or so for Hsipaw, Inle, Kyaiktiyo and Hpa-An Feel free to check out my itineraries for ideas etc http://gaeria84.blogspot.my/2016/06/yangon...-itinerary.htmlhttp://gaeria84.blogspot.my/2016/07/hsipaw...pa-myanmar.html Good pictures and good trip. The most I can do is 2 weeks away from work. Yup, I can plan an okay itinerary. I was hoping to avoid backtracking, fly to and back from diff places, mandalay/yangon.

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Jul 31 2016, 09:04 PM) You can do that by flying in to mandalay first. but not cheap Then follow the usual and most effective route. Mandalay > Hsipaw > Mandalay > Bagan > Nyaung Shwe > Yangon Btw, to you and others who have been to myanmar... How's food in Myanmar compared to vietnam, other sea countries and malaysia?

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Oct 22 2016, 10:56 PM) Nope, managed to escape Hi, btw i saw your blog and you went in January. How's the crowd? I'm going in february and since i'm semi-backpacking, i'm not really planning to book things in advance but sources like lonely planet, selectiveasia is like asking us to plan in advance. as i plan to cover a few places, my concern is on the transport from getting from one place to another, like bagan to inle. i think i don't need to be too worried about travelling to and from mandalay/yangon.

Quick Q, i've been reading that larger denominations notes gives better rates (in reference to 50 and 100). is there a preference for either one or both is fine?

QUOTE(sonotme @ Nov 21 2016, 01:29 AM) For me, I took bus to Bagan and back via flight, just for experience. I agree the domestic flight is really expensive (the flight was like one hour, less I think), but the overnight bus ride was too bumpy for me and I hardly could sleep.. the next day I was so tired to do much. Hi, how did you arrange for the flight? I am looking to avoid entirely travelling on overnight bus. So, want to budget for flights. Thanks.

QUOTE(sonotme @ Dec 27 2016, 01:18 PM) i just bought it online. I compared a few and took the cheapest one (was still expensive! lol), Air Bagan. The flight was less than an hour from Bagan to Yangon airport.. How's the reliability? i think to save myself some trouble, i need to fly at least once in myanmar.

QUOTE(sk41 @ Mar 23 2017, 11:28 PM) so I have to change MYR to USD here & then change to Kyat in Yangon? Yes. Although strictly speaking, it doesn't necessarily has to be USD. You can use euro and sgd too. But advisable to bring USD la. Because euro and sgd is only for exchanging to kyats at airports. ( I didn't pay attention if they actually exchange sgd and euros at banks)

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Mar 24 2017, 12:13 PM) One more thing was when you received Kyat, make sure your kyat are good condition also. I faced once during paying bill with kyat, because some of the kyat are badly condition, they not accept it. When coming back to Malaysia, those bad condition kyat also not been accepted by money charger. End up I back to Malaysia with few 1000 and 5000 bad condition kyat Hmm, you were kinda unlucky in this. I received and used many 100, 200, 500 & 1000 notes which were in pretty poor condition, very soiled notes. But they were accepted by the locals when I bought food and etc. But I was careful about keeping newer looking notes when I exchanged at yangon airport, when I came back to Malaysia. Used up soiled notes first. Exchanged everything back to usd when I came back.
