Hi, I'm currently planning my itinerary for my Myanmar trip in January 2018. I have the following in mind:

Day 1: Morning flight to Yangon, take overnight bus (JJ Express) to Bagan
Day 2: Bagan
Day 3: Bagan, take overnight bus (Bagan Min Thar Express) to Inle Lake
Day 4: Inle Lake
Day 5: Inle Lake, take overnight bus (JJ Express) back to Yangon
Day 6: Yangon
Day 7: Flight back to Malaysia

Will the arrangement be too hectic for sightseeing? I'm avoiding domestic flights at all costs because of the price, and I am flying in/out to/from Yangon instead of Mandalay as I got my Yangon return flight tickets at a very cheap price with my AirAsia Big Points (RM198/pax).

Thank you very much in advance for your kind replies smile.gif

Nope, it's actually quite doable with your current planning  laugh.gif

Yes I do use your blog as a reference, thanks for all the valuable information! I shall proceed to booking for accommodation based on my itinerary since January is a peak season for Myanmar travels.

The bus for me was very exhausting (couldn't sleep well in the bus for me).
For me, I used two days to explore the whole Bagan (on electric scooter)..
In Yangon, you probably would stopby at the Shwe Dagon and Gem Market for souvenirs.

Thank you very much for your recommendation! Kinda regret not slotting in more days for my Myanmar travels doh.gif I do hope I'd be able to withstand the overnight bus rides this time around, had a bad experience with overnight train before this.

Hi, I will be traveling to Yangon via Air Asia next week on the morning flight and then board the 8.00 pm bus that same day via JJ Express to Bagan. I am wondering if there is any way I could slot in a shower before boarding the bus at night? I am considering checking in to a hotel for the day but that would add up to my budget, but the thought of going the entire day without showering irks me a little.

Thanks in advance for your kind replies! smile.gif

Maybe can stay in a cheap hostel for a day wink.gif

Yeah I guess there is no better way to do it. Will it be a risk to only look for a hostel/guesthouse only when I'm there? It's my first time there so I'm not familiar with how the crowd is going to be in January.

How was the restriction on USD? Still only accept brand new USD?

They're slightly lenient now I suppose. One of my USD100 bills was not pristine as I couldn't get new notes last minute, there was a slight fold on one corner and a crease in the middle. They still checked my notes, but accepted them nonetheless.
