Need Sifus opinion here. Sorry if posted at wrong place.

Saw the Acer easyStore H340 in the Acer catalogue priced at RM1299.
Specification as below:

Intel Atom Processor 230
Genuine Windows Home Server
Intel GC945 Express Chipset + ICH7R
2GB DDR2 / 1TB HDD
256MB flash ROM

Anyone with the experience on how's the performance as media server to stream 1080P video over the home network? Also is it worth the price to pay for?

Thanks in advance!

I do ask the Acer dealer in charge of the Acer Roadshow. He don't have the stock yet but according to him, can order and should arrive in few days. Not sure if start selling in LYP yet.

I also see it mention DLNA compliance if I remember correctly.

I'm also thinking of getting one. Asked the dealer at the roadshow to negotiate with Acer to give special offer of 3 years extended warranty just for the roadshow but the Acer office at Sarawak here can't decide. Today is the last day of the roadshow at my place.

Looks nice.

Sorry for the noob question, but what the difference between this and a NAS device (e.g. Synology & QNAP)?

but if your NAS is 4bay type, it's also bulkier than single bay NAS and more expensive..

Still thinking over it.. It can't do RAID. Initially thought it can do RAID with additional HDD.

Only 4 bays available. So it depend on what's the max available capacity of HDD in the market at the moment.

WHS should be able but need the hardware to support RAID too right? It's using ICH7R and I checked Intel chipset info, it didn't mention RAID function.

if using hardware based, the windows will see the raid array as 1 HD.. but there also software raid which don't need hardware support.

This one is for windows 2003..
