Reminds me of a Goldmund product which uses Pioneer components.
Everything almost the same except for the power supply and some fiddlings with minor components.
Then, the remote control also same as Pioneer.

his USD$100 was only bill-of-materials (BOM)

and no this isn't a dig at Oppo - i think they made an outstanding product for a decent price and deserve every bit of profit they make from it. Lexicon however, don't - at least not form the BD30

I think Oppo rarely drops the price of their stuff. However, there is a release this month or later for a stripped down version of teh BDP-83 most likely with a lower end ABT chip and without the analogue outs etc....

One thing to note though, they continue to try to do waht they can to remain relevant. The DLNA firmware update was a nice one to get. I believe they are working on FLAC support as well. Seeing that the LGs, Sammys and Pannys putting out stuff every year, introducing streaming and obsoleting last years model at least with the Oppo they will push the chipset capabilities to the max. However, I doubt anything can be done for 3D on the current Oppo. If HDMI 1.4 is absolutely necessary, then tehre is no way.

Another way would be for the exchange rate to drop.

yeah no way around that, to get FULLHD 3D you need 1.4 due to high bandwidth.. or else have to run at half resolution..

how do you think they managed to claim THX certification without going through the testing process?

Are you claiming they are bluffing about the THX?

No. I just wondering, is those big brand really send thier products to test and/or THX authorities really test their equipment whether meet the requirement of THX. I hope incident happened in Lexi con will not happen again. tongue.gif

To carry the 'THX' logo, they need to pass all the tests or meet the requirements by THX. So, they must have done it. But, 'THX' is kind of overrated to me and it is not viable to get a really THX certified setup as it would be very expensive (not peasant's expensive, mind you sweat.gif )and I doubt there are many qualified technicians around in Bolehland to do the tech backup.

i think there is no way out for lexicon.. they cant drop the price now... i think i have and idea that might let them off the hook.. just announce in the press conference 'what r u guys talking abt, out bdplayer is bundled with 200 titles of bd.. so we strongly think our price is reasonable'
