maybe necessary distribution list of stuffs to bring so that each of us can fully utilize our luggage spaces/capacity.

how much check-in baggage weight did u guys get? i took the 35kg going and 40kg return. might not hv been such a good idea if we're gonna lug around baggage up and down station stairs unsure.gif

we should meet up before checking in at airport, can move around stuff among us if overweight.

from what i understand, we can't pool the check-in allocation unless we're all on the same itinerary

nvm. we still can gather at the airport for a quick review before flight.
*
wait are you on the same flight on 22nd? i always thought u were going on a later date.

----------------

links for some possible overnight hotels: they're all rooms for 2ppl with double sized bed. proper rooms with private bathroom. but from what ive read, the double bed in japanese hotels are somewhat narrower. price range around RM255, /2ppl. rooms with twin beds seem to be bigger and more expensive.

^ ok for me

Added on December 19, 2012, 12:43 pmbtw when should I print the boarding pass?
*
web check in opens 14 days before departure, so u can already print unless u have any changes.

for changes like adding luggage weight or inflight meals, i remember there were some minimum charges like RM12 or something, even if your total less than what u paid before. it seems they will not reimburse any amount.

e.g: u decide u dont want your booked hot seat and want to use that amout to buy extra luggage weight instead. so if ur addon goes beyond a certain amount, u dont have to pay any admin fees but only the amount u need to topup for the addons.

that was how it was for me anyways.

All the stuff bought from the trip. Not in picture are some wrapped souvenirs and the 3 wooden katanas.

*fixed/added some stuff.

*added telco bill to total. Used Celcom with Softbank since they have tie up for data plan. also of note the availability of portable wifi unit.

hi there, which apartment do you stay at ningyocho, how much is it. i'm looking for a place to stay for my trip in March. trouble finding room that can fit 3 person. thanks.
*
can either stay in hotel or in rented apartments. i booked my hotel through agoda flash deals. they booked apartment via airbnb. since you're 3 ppl one of the things u can do is get a twin room(not double) and get an extra bed if u wanna try hotel. there are a lot of budget backpackers hotels with cheap rooms (shared bathroom). it's best to get a place close to a train station since you'll be walking there a lot.

hotels:
http://www.booking.com
http://www.worldhotelsdeal.com (to check agoda prices since agoda.com doesn't list by price)

rent apartment:
http://www.airbnb.com
http://www.roomorama.com

also: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2419732 lots of good info there

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 8 2013, 02:25 PM)
thanks for the details, now i am very confident that i won't be needing 10k for japan laugh.gif
*
if your spending habits are like mine or less, should be no prob. when r u going?

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Jan 8 2013, 03:10 PM)
Depending on how long ur staying though. 2 weeks would cost overall like close to 10k already if you decide to enjoy the trip.
*
QUOTE(chizzu @ Jan 8 2013, 04:42 PM)
i go 10 days also spent more than 10k dont ask me how tongue.gif
*
yup, i dont think we held back on our spendings. really enjoyed the trip haha

QUOTE(angrim @ Jan 8 2013, 09:17 PM)
btw, i am the forum troll that met u guys in akiba and snapped the group photo one biggrin.gif

hi! that was really unexpected. really thought u were japanese laugh.gif thanks for the photo shot

i read the visa application was eased, but do we still need to apply? can't seem to find news article saying otherwise

edit- found it:

http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/ky...isa-requirement

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/J...s-30208051.html

"The visa issuance rules could be eased as early as July, NHK said."

hopefully will happen sooner rather than later.

http://www.first-cabin.jp.e.jr.hp.transer.com/cabin/ that's about the cheapest one at haneda airport, but not cheap considering it's little better than a capsule hotel.

check these for list of hotels: http://www.booking.com or http://www.agoda.com

the last monorail out to tokyo station is at 12.10am http://world.jorudan.co.jp/norikae/cgi-bin...in.cgi#L_Kekka3

AA flights to haneda usually arrive earlier than 11pm, but it's the immigration and baggage that'll make u wait.

Any good shop to recommend for toys, models, gundam at Akihabara?
Hear about Mandrake and Yellow Submarine.
That is the best place?

looking at airasiago.com now. they have a promo to osaka, so flight + hotel around RM2.5k for 5 or so days. most likely end of december. anybody interested in going? would be great if we can get 5-6 ppl on board.

we've got 2 months worth of planning left if this happens
