I guess one possible explaination is the players after winning quite a number of matches for the past few weeks, they are overconfident. Their heart is probably in Europa League against Lille this Friday, and they thought "oh well...Wigan is Wigan we're probably going to win this but don't overtire and overcommit yourself cause we might get tired and hurt and we might not play against Lille on Friday".

Just a random guess though. I still support my club no matter what happens, YNWA.

I hope this is like the final slap in the face for Liverpool players and the manager, if we screwed up the next match I sure hope Rafa will drop certain senior players and let the young ones try to prove a point instead.
