Here is a sample image taken from the camera. Maximum resolution, no effects whatsoever. Taken indoor, and I'm not a photographer. LOL.

And here is a sample video from the camera. Its on YouTube, so the quality is reduced of course. Don't expect too much from a phone camera, but what you should see here is the framerate of the video. It's a lot better than the HTC Hero if you ask me smile.gif

dude, it looked quite blur. Were you nervous when taking the snapshot? Or the lens is dirty?

* my N1 is on its way from HK...ETA next week wink.gif

I am a convert of iPhone to future N1 (coming soon) smile.gif . Already hunting for good apps. I've came across a list of favorite from another person in this thread and perhaps something i would start off with. Check the person name "mcosmi" and his fav list.

http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/andr...d7a2b8cd9&hl=en

There may be some other better list out there, but this is a good start. It may help for other iPhone converts like myself. Wish me luck on my rehab...

* are there any app which isn't compatible for specific phone like N1? or generally all android phone would be able to run them?

shahz,

jailbreak is only needed if you were caught giving sweets to custom officers biggrin.gif

can you check on the Android Market if you are limited on the paid apps? I heard the paid app is only for US. What do you have on yours?

* i think since you've rooted yours, you may not have the limit, but do you recall before rooting it?

Hi guys, i am back after 1 week of MIA (because i am busy toying around with my spanking new N1 brought in from HK..hehe).

Excellent device in many way. There are obvious room for improvements on the software (which i hope google is closing the gaps).

One of my issue is to get it connected a Cisco concentrator VPN. Also it had issue in importing p12 certs that has CA chains exported from IE or Mozilla. Had to use unix openssl to save it to DER then back to P12 format, only then it would work. But still failed to connect to cisco VPN.. *sigh*. Tempted to use the 3rd party Cisco VPN client in market but require N1 to be rooted (not ready for that yet until i see what Goog had in store for the upcoming OTA update this week)

Two occasions of attempting to mute an ongoing conference call (by pressing the mute soft button), it kept hitting "0" instead which is two buttons up. That is odd, luckily it didn't happen all the time. Anyone seen this?

I wish there were some way to store additional number and input to dialpad automatically on demand, so that i do not have to remember conference pin numbers tongue.gif

Remember that, the N1 is a Beta product smile.gif... and those 4 countries are the TESTING places. smile.gif

I think N1 will comes into Malaysia sooner or later.... either by official HTC or LYNers smile.gif

When it comes to msia....it is still beta. smile.gif GOOG is always fixing and adding more stuff. But then again, i believe the hardware is more or less static. Just the 2.1 OS that is still freshly baked from oven.

Why not wait till the upcoming OTA update on N1 first before rooting? I am waiting for it too..and applying lots of mopiko on itchy hand to avoid rooting mine.

For the folks who is having hard time with the four "softbutton" at the botton, just touch the bottom of the button then slide upwards a little just enough to cover the button. Works for me everytime. The button actually register on the top half of the softbutton.

As for tethering, i am using PDANet. Works like a charm. Even able to do VPN (on Cisco concentrator) from my notebook once the phone is bridged via USB. I am still waiting for a standalone Cisco VPN support on N1 though without having to use a notebook around.

Shaz,
Since you've rooted yours, do you still get the touchscreen issue at times (probably due to orientation confusion)?

oreomambo, which touchscreen issues? I have never had touch screen issues really..Before this I had some problems because I was not used to the phone yet..If even a slightest part of skin touches the black border on the N1, you will have problems with the touch smile.gif

Bahathir, screen protector? Seriously? lol
Never used them on Hero too. Don't want to lose the sensitivity of the screen. Besides, if the phone is very well taken care of, its very less likely you will ever have a scratch smile.gif
*
Yeah, i have that problem too. My palm touches the border and it gets confused. Hopefully some kind of rubber casing suit that we can purchase in the future that would protect the border better, perhaps something thicker on the side.

Anyone encoutering touch screen problem when repeatetively poking on the same spot?
*
Well, i have two occasions of trying to mute a conference call by hitting the mute button, but it ended up registering "0" instead. Never had that happened after that. I think the bottom of my palm was touching the screen border which is also sensitive to touch as well. I'll see again.

Have you try touching the same spot with a drawing tools? i saw alot of youtube they test it with a drawing apps and alot of problems with the touch screen appear...
*
Actually I am able to repeat the pattern today. You can try out on your nexus.
During a call, bring out the dial pad; try pressing the mute button but just right under the word "mute" , about the horizontal green/grey bar. You may see it registering "0" instead. Same goes to the speaker button too.

Hi,

I'm part of N1 club too! smile.gif

Anyway, want to find out - I've been trying to disable my 3G connection to no avail. Even downloaded APNdroid but still receiving e-mails.

Anyone have a solution? I currently don't have a data plan so the bill might kill me. :S

Disable Wifi if not needed
Disable GPS (why would you need it under normal daily use anyway, unless you are toying with apps)
Reduce the frequency of data sync, eg your RSS reader, your news and weather, your contact sycn, your email pop download frequency, your gmail sync, facebook notification..etc. Put a longer duration.
Reduce screen brightness, you don't need it to be glaring bright, unless you are outside.
Check if you have apps running in background and consuming your CPU still. I use OSMonitor app which is quite cool
Are you in signal weak spot area? It will drain your batt even more. I heard that putting your hands at the bottom of the phone somehow deteriorates the signal.
Put a faster screen timeout.

Get the OTA update
Download netcounter from market. You'll get a hint from it on data transmission. If it kept going up frequently, you have something running that is doing data transfer work in bg.

Once i've tried disabling 3G data all together for few days...the phone lasted 2 days without charging and still with juice left.

Hi All,

Just got my N1 and I'm new to Android......I have a few questions and hope someone can enlighten me:

1) Can we do grouping on contact? For example, I want to create a group call "Family" and group all my family members under this group, then I can assign Ringtone or send SMS to this group.

2) There's no pre-install application that can open/edit MS Word, Excel or even Text file, righ? If to download, any recommendation?

3) Is there a log information for data usage? I want to know what is the 3G data usage so far especially I'm not on unlimited plan? I can't find it.......any recommendation application to download?

4) There's no pre-install video player.......any recoomendation application to download?

Overall, N1 is very nice and still exploring it :-)

Thanks in advance.

I use this app call NetCounter. Very clear representation of data transmission of wifi and cellular.
This is how I know that my APNdroid is working

in WM contacts option, i can store phone number such as home, work 2,  others, car, assistant, assistant phone number. I wonder if nexus one can have so many phone number storing option?

Yes, it has ability for u to add customize category. Perhaps call it like 'secondary hp' or 'skype id' for example on top of the usual phone/fax/email categories.
