Can one of you proud N1 owners test something for me.

When you're on the phone with someone, are you able to play a song for the person on the other end with the Android music player? My old Nokia 6630 could do this but since then I've not owned a phone that could.

Anyone having problems with bluetooth file transfer?

I can send photos from PC to N1 but not the other way. N1 says PC is "Paired but not connected." In PC's bluetooth devices folder N1 icon is always dimmed.

I'm using Windows 7. So far I've only fount this: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/andr...59482904a&hl=en

See this: http://discuss.gdgt.com/htc/google/nexus-o...and-PDF-viewer/
It seems to work, at least with PDFs. I haven't tried opening docs or spreadsheets yet.

I am only having bluetooth transfer to my lappy.
But have no connection issue with my bluetooth handsfree, and my old d810.
Not sure why.

You mean you have issues with BT transfer with your laptop? When I said PC I meant my laptop (HP Pavilion dv2 running Windows 7). Still can't get it to receive photos from my N1. Or maybe it's the N1 having trouble sending.

Didn't have any problems for me..Make sure you made your device discoverable..I've used the bluetooth several times already since I got it..Its slower than WiFi, but easier to activate and use..So far no problems at all smile.gif

BT transter:
I can transfer files  from/to my laptop running GNU/Linux. If my Linux laptop can did it in command line, then I am sure the ultra modern Windows 7 can also. smile.gif. BT file transfer is not as fast the WiFi, it is around 200kByte/s. I also can transfer from/to to other handphones, and I use Bluetooth File Transfer apps (from Market). Very convenient

So you both can do BT transfer with your computers without issues then. Ok I'll try with another computer, and that app bahathir mentioned.

Added on January 24, 2010, 10:23 amBtw, how do you guys transfer files between N1 and your computer over WiFi?

innards,

Its really simple..You can either use SSH or FTP file transfer..SSH is fully command line and you will find it rather difficult if you're not used to UNIX platforms smile.gif

For FTP, here is what you should do..Considering you know the basics of FTP (File Transfer Protocol), download the "FTP server" application and "My IP" application from the market for your phone. Also, make sure you have a FTP application on your computer (FileZilla happens to be my favorite).

Once you have that, launch the My IP application and note down your internal IP. Close MyIP and launch FTP server now. Setup a username and password along with a listening port (I suggest 2222 as the port). Also, allow the wireless network that you will be using to connect to your phone to have access to your phone. With this setting, launch the FTP client on your computer and connect to your phone accordingly. If everything goes well, you will see your phone's folders on your FTP client wink.gif

Cheers~

This sounds pretty exciting, I can't wait to try it out. I use a bit of FTP so I guess the setup should be a snap with your very clear instructions.

innard : Ever tried to set the N1 as Mass Storage, and Windows 7 and access the N1's SDcard as a drive? smile.gif

Added on January 24, 2010, 5:24 pmBTW, if you use BT push method (PC -> N1), you only can send/push the N1's recognizable files' extensions . such as, txt, png, jpeg ....  Other than these, N1 will denied the connection.
*
bahathir, I do use the mount feature sometimes and it's quite handy. It's actually one of the reasons why I went with Android. Sometimes wireless is more convenient though and I'm kind of used to bluetooth for pc/phone file transfers. Anyways if I can get FTP to work it wouldn't matter as much.

So you guys are well-versed in UNIX huh, no wonder about your Android enthusiasm wink.gif

I couldn't do Bluetooth transfers N1>PC so yesterday I updated BT drivers on my laptop. It solved N1>PC but broke PC>N1 hmm.gif Good news is Bluetooth File Transfer app is now working for me smile.gif

I also tried FTP but I think I'm gonna stick with USB for large transfers for now. FTP itself is a breeze to setup with any of the FTP apps on the market and once a file gets going the speed is awesome, too. Problem is, it takes a while for each transfer and each file to begin. These gaps add up and it becomes a drag. Maybe the implementations are clunky right now?

Added on January 30, 2010, 11:47 amBtw, AndFTP was pretty impressive but it's actually an FTP client (not a server, afaik) so you have to run an FTP server on your PC. I ran FileZilla server and the transfers went fast and smooth.
