I sympathized with your cousin's unfortunate, and yes, no warranty, also, the screen is cracked because of your fault. Correction: N1 is NOT using LCD, but AMOLED. Very different technology smile.gif

BTW, how about just asking HTC Malaysia for the solutions.

If you meet a Pakcik botak in komuter holding his n1, ask him for a free demo: )

Desire is the closest thing to N1 with FM tuner and Sense UI and Flash lite an soon the Divx support: smile.gif Lots of nice features. Optical trackball some more. Seem to nice choices.

If you use in landscape with 2 hands, you might not have any problem with touch registering. But in potrait mode with 1 hand, at first I got some problem with touch register, and I found out that my palm touched a 'liiiiiitttle' bit at the edge of the screen, which make the errors in touch registering. So, from that day, I practiced holding it in one hand and touch the screen with one thumb, and without any part of my palm touching the edge of the screen. Anyway, using epikcase make thing easier to me, to minimize the touch error.

Now, I don't any problem with the 4 virtual function buttons at the bottom of the screen. The best way for newbies is to do a mini swipe, or 'calit' from bottom to up at the button. After a while, your fingers will know where to touch smile.gif

Oya, most of the time I operate the N1 with one hand and a thumb. My wife always kidnap my N1 and plays Jewelusts, and she said the touchscreen is superb and accurate. 2 nights ago, she was using my daughter's finger (4 years old) smile.gif, and there it was even better smile.gif. Yeah, I cannot forget to see how cute my daughter's fingers swiping and pinch to zoom for multi-touch when browsing her pictures in Gallery smile.gif

TQ.

No, you cannot install apps in sdcard with virgin N1. Anyway, all the user's data might be write to the sdcard.

Silly? No, this is security feature. My tips is, install only what you use. You can install and test apps as much as you want, but, house keeping can make lots of different.

This is basically same as our PC system too. If you install to many apps, your system might run slower and slower. Prioritizing your needs can help you to make your system much leaner and faster.

We have choices. Up to the you, whether you like N1 or not smile.gif.

I only have a MINOR problem with 3G reception. It will be superb if it can be improved. I said MINOR because, might be due to telco's problems, because sometime I got great 3G experiences without any hiccups, even when browing Intenet in komuter which was moving at 120 km/h (GPS reading smile.gif).

BTW, IMO, N1 is still great phone, even it is still virgin. Imagine how great it can be if I rooted it, change kernel and dalvikvm engine.

Anyway, my next phone, will be a hackable Android platform. smile.gif

Good reviews? smile.gif ... I chose the N1 because of the good comments in 'leaked' reviews BEFORE the official launch. I am targeting android for some years, but, those days the HW and SW performances was not that attractive to me.

So, after being one of the earliest persons who 'owned' the N1, I can say, Androd platform has great future, especially among 'hackers' smile.gif I engraved my email to my N1, as a symbolic presentation of 'owning' the device. smile.gif I short, I 0wn3d the N1 since day 1 I bought it smile.gif

These days, I am not exploring/experimenting my N1 as much when I received it, and the battery life is about 24 hours. Not bad la...1 hour net browsing in komuter, 1 hours of Jewelust and several phone calls smile.gif

Yeah, Android smartphones will evolves very rapidly, because, there are many companies who manufacture many models.

iPhone? How many company producing iPhone? How many models since 3,4 years ago? Ok, I hope you got the answer already why iPhone last years smile.gif

Anyway, better not compare Android to Apple, because both have different target users.

About the WiFI, since 2.1-update1 or ERE27, I also cannot change the WiFi 'CHANNEL', because the 'Domain Regulartory' option has been missing. I logged this issus to google support forum and android dev forum.

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/de...Summary%20Stars

Hope the option will available in next update.

TQ.

I can read the chinese characters, NOT the Chinese language, and I can assume your heart/mind/soul/love is only for iPhone smile.gif, so it is obviously no point to use other than iPhone.

We have choice... I picked N1. I almost bought iphone 3Gs, but, thinking of Freedom of choices, I chose Android/N1 at last. smile.gif

Android sw is getting better and better, I am very sure, some day, Android will be the biggest rival to iphone.

N1 is a failure? Agreed, N1 failed to be an iPhone.. What a pity... smile.gif But luckily, N1 or Android is not going to be Apple iTune/iPhone.which I find it a plus for me. L can create my own kernel for N1 and make it run. I feel very SATISFIED about, when my 'core' codes are running in the N1 processes/RAM smile.gif In other word, I 0w3ned my N1 in and out.

Yeah, not everybody feel the same.... so, life must goes on with our own path.

I just installed the Papago M6 into my N1, but, how can I use MFM smile.gif It's looks nice, but, without MFM, it is useless. smile.gif

Actually very easy to install, even with GNU/Linux. Extract all the files based on the link in previous post, and install the .apk file from papago. Luckily I can read Chinese characters and 'agak-agak' the meaning, because, all the menus are in Chinese.

As a proof here is the screenshot smile.gif 3D buildings... quite smooth, just acceptable.
TQ.

Please list out the all filenames in the TW directory here smile.gif

$ ls /sdcard/Navi/Maps/TW

2) If I want to use MFM only, which TW files should I delete, because I want to save space for other purposes.

TQ

The problem is TW map takes 900 MB of space, which I don't use. So I think we can try to delete some TW files, just enough to get the M6 to be started. :

Ooo.. it seem that I took the wron MFM map. The map which I took has filenames like this R21-MFM-SSC.* where the TW maps is R51-SSC,

Yeah, dreamwar is right, it is useless if you cannot enter alphanumeric for search/find places....

I think I want to delete it, and wait the official M6 which support MFM smile.gif or Garmin's Android navigation apps.

Back to my old faithful Garmin Nuvi 755T (MYSG 2.30 firmware).
TQ

Garmin Nuvi 755T is a dedicated GPS navigation device, not a software. Thanks for the details of the installation. Will try again tomorrow.

I downloaded all the files either from rapidshare or megaupload sites, and all files are working fine.

At last, I managed to intsall the MFM into the Papago X5 M6 smile.gif.

After I deleted several unwanted huge files, now, the Navi directory's size is less than 300MB smile.gif

Here are few eye candies for everyone. smile.gif

We can see the Lane Assist, Junction View and 3D buildings.

Syabas to MFM team, and big thanks to Shenmui smile.gif

Added on April 12, 2010, 3:11 pmWhich files that I deleted ?

1) Everything in Navi/TravelWalker/
2) Navi/Maps/TW/R51_SSC.fdt

Since I don't use the TW maps, I hope I deleted the correct files, to save some space. smile.gif
