yup, u are downloading the newer version of OS, the bigger last 3 or 4 digit, the newer the version it is. MMS receiving and sending might not due to OS, but the OS version upgrade is most likely due to few reason below:Current version : v5.0.0.442

upgrade or not is all base on ur personal "feel" or i should say, observation. if ur bb are working fine, just stick to the version. but most ppl like to upgrade, just to try the new version out.
Loader.exe is something similar to app loader in DM, but u dont have to open the desktop manager to run it. just run the file and follow the step will do.
