Just wonder what if happen if I update this newest rom?
My HD2 rom is 1.48.707.2 WWE version, I have call the pdaexpert help me do on the chinese input for my hd2, if I update this rom then the chinese input will be lost ?
*
HD2 for our region, by default already come with chinese input. I know mine did. But for the rom update, I'm now sure if it would recognize our rom from the serial number itself.

QUOTE(kkChan @ Jan 22 2010, 09:55 PM)
strange got it locally...

serial : HT9C4NW0xxxx

from a HTC distributor as claimed.
*
Strange, but my serial start with HT9CENW06xxx. You sure you type it correctly?

do we need to reinstalll all the hotfix after flash rom??
*
No need. The hotfixs are required only for certain 1.xx.xxx.x version and below. Since 1.66.707.1 is the latest, the previous hotfix is already inside this package.

I'm downloading it now, install later. laugh.gif I'll wait for more reviews, and performance and speed test result.

I still prefer the original sleeve. It feel almost non-existence in my pocket, even fit my shirt pocket. The flip type is quite bulky though.

QUOTE(dgtel2 @ Jan 25 2010, 08:51 AM)
although the specs are better, the price may not be cheap. HD2 needs the bigger
1GB ROM because the HTC Album eats a lot of space. this is the major flaw for our unit. nevertheless, we can divert the albumĀ  cache to SD card.
*
Man.... doh.gif doh.gif Anyway, it's not a deal breaker. It's specifically for T-mobile. Not very sure if there will be an unlock version for our region. If so, I think it will take some time before it reach here. Worth the wait? No thanks. biggrin.gif

Additional ROM is probably for WinMo 7. But rumors had it WinMo 7 is only for eye-candy, totally written on a different OS, something like Zune HD. And for that, it may inherit some compatible issue with existing software. The RAM will be good though.... for gaming and video playback.

QUOTE(vincent09 @ Jan 25 2010, 10:02 AM)
Does anyone here use garmin xt for HD2? Just wonder to know what is the latest version? I found mostly is for s60 tongue.gif
*
Yup. Garmin Mobile XT. thumbup.gif It's bigger, faster, more responsive, amazing loading speed compared to HD. I'm loving it! wub.gif

Happened to me before too. All you need to do is to check with the telco website. Find your phone and download there.

Nobody respond to my earlier post, i guess none of them is using it. Let us know the result after you try. laugh.gif

Added on January 28, 2010, 2:00 amBy the way, anyone has any complication with the official 1.66 rom yet? Any issue with Net 3.5? Games, app, message loading speed, internet browsing speed, gps signal lock, etc.... Need some review please.

For Maxis user whom has experience sms stuck at outbox in 1.48 rom, does the new 1.66 rom solve this problem already?

QUOTE(idesmond @ Jan 29 2010, 06:11 PM)
I believe thats applicable to 1.48 and below right? Seems that the 1.66 doesnt need this fix.
Note: This update is only applicable to ROM version is less than 1.66.XXX.X. <-- Copy from HTC website.
So it's not applicable for 1.66 rom. Wonder if those that already install the previous hotfix, still need this or not?

HOW TO DISABLE DATA CONNECTION

Warning: This will not only disable, but remove the data connection all together.

Go to "Settings" -> "Menu" -> "All Settings" -> "Connections" -> "Connection Setup" -> "Menu", and disable the "Enable Auto Configuration".

Then return to home, again go to "Setting" -> "Wireless Controls" -> "Menu" -> "Connections".

Under the Maxis/Digi/Celcom Internet Settings, select "Manage existing connection" -> "General" -> "Delete Settings"

Once complete, try go to "Settings" -> "Wireless Controls" -> "Data Connection". You should receive an error message say that it was unable to connect to the internet, etc. Work on my HD previously, should work on HD2.

Wifi, bluetooth and other wireless connection should work just fine. Anyway, with HD2, it's a bit pity if you don't subscribe to any data plan. sweat.gif With the 4.3" screen, it really is the best mobile gadget ever that allow you to online anywhere, anytime. drool.gif drool.gif

So far for battery life, full charge can last me 30 mins of calls, 10-20 sms, internet browsing for 1-2 hrs. Battery consumption on GPS is suprisingly good. I mean good because it last almost as long as my HD, although HD2 has bigger screen and lower battery capacity, it still quite good.

1+ hr of GPS consume about 30%.

The phone drain the battery mainly when you type your sms, not when you send. If you really spend 3 hrs (with the screen on), of course the battery bar is going to drop. :sweats: around 30-40% is normal for 3hrs.

I charge my phone every night, maybe I'm used to it already.laugh.gif

Anyway, never let your phone battery drop below 10%, it will spoil the battery. Better to charge when it still have power remain, even if it's still 50%, than to wait till it drop till 10%.

Yeah.... it does look flimsy, I don't really like the long flexible support. But those RM10 pasar malam can barely hold something this big, plus they are so big! I mean the clip, the whole thing, I find it a bit clumsy to hold something as big as HD2.

Another type is this one:

Not that practical, since most car cigarette holder is very low, as it draw our attention from the road. Very dangerous, especially when we are making critical decision to overtake lane and to take a turn... rolleyes.gif

HD2 Car Holder bulk list:
1. Aurora
2. frankgan
3. mezerwi
4. mikeis18
5. ahcong
6. KKW + USB Retractable MicroUSB Cable

The retail price, after conversion is RM21-22, excluding shipping. This is my first bulk, so I'm doing this bulk just for sharing the shipping cost, no earning, rounded to the nearest RM. If we get more people, maybe I'll use international courier express, so we can get the item faster.

QUOTE(dgtel2 @ Jan 31 2010, 03:23 PM)
I don't need car holder. Just lay my beybeh on the odeometer screen. With the help of the resin case, it won't slip off even when making sharp U-turn.

Added on January 31, 2010, 3:24 pm
Yup. Bought from the same reseller. I have all colours except black.
*
dgtel2, you bought all resin case color available? I tried laying on my odometer before, but since I'm not using resin case, it slips if I corner too hard. I'm not planning to use resin, so I definitely need the car holder.

*
I read somewhere, there is no fix for the sms tone for original rom, not sure about custom though. It's a special feature (bug) intentionally for HD2 only. laugh.gif As for lag, probably you install something into your phone and always running in background? Try check your task manager, auto-updates.

Try check your device manager, see if there is any uninstall/unidentify device. Probably just driver missing.

I'm living around Subang Jaya, so I need advice on which HTC authorised reseller offers the best price or free gifts and etc. Is PDA-Expert reliable? Any replies would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
*
Check first page, there is a list of users, where they bought it, how much, and what are the package... As far as I'm concerned, PDA Expert can't drop their price too much because they need maintain the price tag, but they do give out some feebies. While other lower offer elsewhere, they don't give much, (if any) freebies at all.

Winmo addicts will invest on Android when Garmin/PaPaGo supports Android...LOL
*
This, i'm totally over it, if it's going to happen. But not sure though if garmin/papago would want to enter android market. I see a lot of other s/w developers have yet to enter the market.

The whole street is filled with iphone user, even accessories for iphone have surpass nokia. Apple put too much constraint on their os. Power user will definitely stick to winmo. I believe most iphone users are looking for a reason to jump ship, usable gps s/w and multitask!

Speaking of which, I'm listening to music while typing this. A while ago was replying text sms, without having to quit my browser, with half of the post above. Occasionally quit to main screen to change songs tracks. Basic day-to-day multitask.

I'm also using my hd2 as broadband modem:)
