vista ultimate 32 kaki since... maybe 2008 i cant remember
1: disable windows defender
2: disable firewall
3: disable user account control
4: registry edit
5: disable some startup program/windows service
6: disable windows login sound /disable parsing autoexec.bat
7: disable super fetch system/ disable application compatibility engine
8: disable system restore / disable error report
9: enable to use whole l2 cache
10:defrag disk / disk clean / registey defrag / registry clean (after 1-3 weeks..takes only less then 1 hour total)
11:use rainmeter instead of vista sidebar ( vista sidebar tend to "eat up" so much process)
12:use object dock plus instead of rocket dock (much faster load)

total memory used after boot up 500-600 mb

Thanks for suggestion of using rainmeter. Never heard this application before. Now using with for my Vista and it using less resources than original sidebar. thumbup.gif

As long as you protect your Vista fom Malware/Trojan infection,
Win Vista is actually as fast as Windows 7.

People often complain Vista is very slow, actually their Vista is infected with Malware/Trojan and become a bot.
(Microsoft's article about bots: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/botnet.aspx )
Do you think Internet Security Suites are 100% effective against all type of out there, the answer is NO.

In the past, my Vista used to be very slow and sluggish - it is because of malware infection.
Now after reformat the harddisk and re-install Vista and install Microsoft Security Suites. Now I also use a Cisco hardware firewall.
Now my Vista no more slow and sluggish problem.

Hi guys, need help!
My win vista suddenly takes like 7-9min to boot up, after I did a disc clean-up. together I also noticed my Safari browser had stopped working, it just freeze whenever I start the programme.
I had scanned my hard disk twice, didn't find any virus or trojan.
Now even disk defragmenter also take 3 min to start.

but after the window has started up, the rest of the programmes run normally with normal speed.

oh no.... tension already!!!
Kindly provide me some help!
Thanks so much!

My experience with Vista...once you connect it to internet after few days it will become slow and sluggish (because of malware/root kits infection...I guess)
It could be because of me don't know how to take care of the internet security issues (think about all the malware/virus/root kits out there)
Nowaday i don't use Vista to connect internet, I use Linux instead, this save me from all the hassle of installing Internet Security Suites/scanning/updating, Malware scanning, rootkits detecting/removing, spyboots scanning...etc

I don't means Vista is not suitable to connect to internet....just that I don't want to spend time for all those work of installing Internet Security Suites/scanning/updating, Malware scanning, rootkits detecting/removing, spybots scanning...and worry/paranoid of my pc being being hijack by the botnets etc

everyone has freedom to choose with operating system to use to connect to internet.

I still use Vista for video recording/(astro) and Microsoft Office.
