Will disk defrag make more differences?

And what's the best way to overclock my pc?

Yes, disk defrag improves performance. It will rearrange messy data placement so your hard disk will take less time to look for it.

You need good cooling, motherboard and power supply(if your power supply is weak) for overclocking. Overclocking is limited for budget motherboards and power supply. Some motherboard doesn't support overclocking at all.

Install a good antivirus software, which protects unwanted virus / torjans entering / get installed in ur PC.

Add RAM (more RAM better)..

Always have some HDD space left in C drive..dont fully occupy..

Dont install unwanted softwares or programs...

Add virtual memory to your system (especially C drive)...

Added on January 13, 2010, 9:28 pmBest way is to reformat and reinstall a fresh Windows...sure fast...

and then, make a backup using system restore in Windows (or an image of C drive)..you can also do it after installing all the softwares and drivers, and then backup/create image using GHOST...

Thats just my idea...

hmm, for me :
1) remove unnecessary startup program
2) make sure prefetch is enabled, but do use ccleaner before shutting down
3) disable sidebar...
4) use a fast loading AV like AVG, cause me little time to initialze
5) Defrag when needed

my step;

1) disable some useless registry entry like Nero, Adobe something like dat..
2) Ccleaner is a must. For clearing the junk in system & registry
3) remove some effect/fading on vista
4) using light ntvirus like Avast!
