Go watch it yourself.
This time I don't think my opinion will resonate with others. |

If you're smitten by the movie, do seek out this GN if you don't want slogging the ori dense book. It's supervised by Brian Herbert, the son of the author. I've read about 20 pages in, it's very faithful and definitely will gives you more context of Reverend Mother Helen Mohiam and more interaction with Baron Harkonnen. The book also ends similarly to where the movie ends Either get it on comixology, Ebay and of course some scallywag named Jack with a certain bird surname. Probably the only complain I have at this point is the missing scenes. Like the hyperspace travel scene/inside heighliner. And the dinner party scenes at the Keep. Also, a scene of interaction between lasgun & shield would be pretty cool too.
Missing character like Baron Harkonnen's other nephew. Pretty sure they gonna show the Emperor & Princess Irulan in the next part. |

Do take note Dune is those prestige film that does not appeal to the lowest denominator. Those couldn't appreciate it simply their taste of watching nuanced storytelling and finer filmmaking not fully developed. Then again Dune is a very complex act to follow. I cannot fathom they are able to do Book 2 onwards on film and breaking the meta of a conventional protagonist. It went from Space Jesus to Space Hitler. Frank Herbert is all about illustrating the shortcomings of a messianic figure.

No need to argue, the danger of Messiah is the core message. Environmental, imperialism, economic supremacy, religion, and good old feminism are the subtext. It began with a concept: to do a long novel about the messianic convulsions which periodically inflict themselves on human societies. I had this idea that superheros were disastrous for humans. - Frank Herbert https://www.oreilly.com/tim/herbert/ch03.html |

this is a good remake. coz the last one was on 2000 & 2003 the sci fi series. which is a good miniseries.
the 1984 one ok la... but the theme song very keng. you can hear a bit of the 1984 tune near the movie end. |
