panny hired ex-pioneer Kuro TV engineer to work only for the high(est) end V series!!! what a load of crap....

new V series have what's claim Infinite Black Pro panels...whilst anything below V series have Infinite Black panels...dunno if there's any improvement over current series in terms of blackness...

looking at the brief specs, dun think one shud expect huge improvements...

Trust me, the egos from Pannys do not like to be associated in any way of the old Pio. It took a lot of coaxing for them to actually admit that some of the old Kuro tech was inside the new Pannys.

The difference is Panny has a wide range, Pio did not. They only had one range. One/Two panels per year and firmware to control the different ranges.

The good thing is that the advances made will be utilized going forward. The technology is not locked away rotting in a vault.

honestly, i'm not sure if its a good or bad thing, being as exclusive as Kuro...

on one hand, Kuro was like the elite of plasma displays...they dun hv any 'lower' range or entry models...hence giving utmost exclusivity & giving its proud owners a high sense of elite-ness smile.gif

one another hand, sad to say, that's why Kuro went kaput...

with panny, even if i can afford its V or Z series, not sure if i will feel as 'elite' as if i were to own a Kuro...probably becos i know there are lower range of panny plasma displays...

in a way, anyone from noob to elite can afford a Panasonic Plasma tv (series aside)...but only the true elites can have a Pioneer Kuro...

but on second hand, panny able to survive & keep making plasma displays...but at least, they can share some of their Kuro expertise into all range of 2010 lineup...

The important thing is not about being elite or noob.

The most important thing is if a company as big as Panny can truly deliver more that Pioneer ever could.

Panny used to put out the best screens out there till 2007. They have slacked. Hope they get their act together else they will also wash away with the LCD revolution.

Also, if u do not see the difference and u r happy with ur entry level set, why worry about wanting a better set. Its elite as long as the owner is happy with the product.

Having a Kuro and not being able to appreciate that is better but merely feeling that he/she has the best set is really not important.

Thats the point I am making.

I have got calls to calibrate Kuros, but the person uses it to watch pirated DVDs and low res stuff. Why buy one for that?
Panny has better people at management,  thats why they are so big. Pio was badly managed and they have gone bust in the display industry. They made a big mistake of buying a wrong plant and backing it.

My point is Panasonic needs to pull up its socks and improve, get back to being the leader they once was. The strong fight put out by the LCD camp cannot be ignored.

tho i'm no expert, at least i can still see the clear difference of Kuro vs rest of the lineup....it really gives you the shocking.gif + drool.gif effect...but getting them to watch pirated dvds...hrrmm..that guy must be filthy rich but dunno how to appreciate what he's got...

as usual bro anfield, you always comes up with real sensible explanations...i really tabik you notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

they are probably releasing less ideal displays to fend off LCD competitions...creating consumer awareness of plasma & letting them know plasma tv's are just as affordable as LCDs with their entry level plasma TVs....as well as keep stating plasma is a better display compared to LCD, which i totally agree....
