Since some are asking for 3D Mark scores. Here i wiill provide you all. Reviews by me. Hehe..  rclxms.gif
1st test. Default Settings

Pros:
Best bang for the buck.
PhysX helps alot in gaming.
Included CUDA architecture
Comfortable keyboard
Additional shortcut buttons
Runs cool
Has a HDMI output

Cons:
Only got 3 USB ports
Battery dosent tend to last when gaming (max it lasted on mine was 1hours++ MAX)
Should come with a 4GB DDR3 ram

Rate:
From my personal view i give it a 4/5.

These above was just from my personal point of view.
*
HeLLonEarTH, u should have upgraded RAM to 4GB straight away when buying. Its only bout Rm150+, worth the price to do so. For lack of USB ports, a ten buck USB hub could solve it. But the problem is it should come with USB 3.0 as WD has already launch their new gen equipments on USB3.0. I am worried if buy now, then get outdated tomorrow. Hais...

It supports physX. Dont worry. Why would i waste my time giving reviews to you all if there is no PhysX. That s the feature that helped alot in most part of the game. Imagine if it dosent have PhysX. Sure the games wont be smooth when things blow up or whatsoeva. If you want me to make you more confident. Here i give you a screenshot of the PhysX option that is available in GeFore 310M.

I did upgrade mine to 4GB and it was for free. Since it was on promotion. Buy today and upgrade to 4GB of ram for free. Well, for USB3.0 i dont think its that usefull nowadays. ANd sure that USB3.0 will be expensive. So, i personally dont think that USB3.0 will be added in the 4740G since it that damn cheap with alot of cool feature in the system. What more can we bargain for at a RM2499?

HeLLonEarTH, mind to share where u bought it? Cos i wanted the free upgrade too. I am getting my one this weekend.

Marketing strategy for stock clearance.

As you read through this thread, so many users have been using it and tested and write up their review over here. I doubt on what the salesman said, indeed i dun really trust any salesman, they will say anything just to get the business.

@HeLLonEarTH, thanks for the detailed explanation. Too far for me, I think I'll just get it in Digital Mall PJ.

Anyone know that Digital mall which store are giving more freebies and provide 0% EPP (for my CIMB-DirectAcces credit card)? Please recommend.

Hi there, i had a problem with my Acer 4740G. I was not using the computer for a while, and then computer screen suddenly turned dark. I thought the computer went to sleep. However it does not respond to clicks, and key presses. The only solution is to force shutdown the machine using the power button. It happened 3 times, yesterday. I thought it might be some issue with Acer hardware going overheating etc.

However, today there is a new update for Windows 7. (27 Jan 2010) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977074

Reliability update. One of the fixes is;

CODE
On a computer that is running Windows 7, you configure the Screen Saver Settings to display the logon screen on resume. Additionally, you configure the computer to go to sleep. However, the computer may not go to sleep after the screen saver starts. Instead, a black screen is displayed. [B]This problem causes the operating system to stop responding[/B]. You must restart the computer by holding down the power button.

Also, for those who likes to put a blank desktop (solid color) - like me, the logon will take 30 seconds due to a bug in Windows 7. There is an update for that too,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977346

CODE
The Welcome screen may be displayed for 30 seconds during the logon process after you set a solid color as the desktop background in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

This is however a hotfix and not distributed using Windows Update. You need to download is manually.
Since i experienced both the above problems, i everyone update their laptop after purchasing, immediately smile.gif

Cheers

Hi. i m posting this comment with the acer aspire 4740g itself, the RM2499 model.

to b honest, the performance is so so only, especially with the given hardware specs
1) response time is slow, example there is minor freeze opening programs, u cant see instant click and appear situation
2) i5 means 4 cores? but burning the recovery disc make me almost impossible to surf nets with applets and java templates........, like youtube etc
3) too many junks program like the built in games and useless utilities actualy slow down the performance, while alot of the programs are trial only, it takes up unnesscary space too
4) hardware spec may seems tempting, like multitouch pointer, 720p webcam, dual layer dvd ram etc but it takes me almost 1hours ++ to fnish burning the 4 recovery discs.. the webcam resolution is just 640x320, while the pointer is not responsive like in macbook..
5) for gaming i think it is a big NO since it takes so long just to startup simpleprograms like browsers, even microsoft office

will write more when i get to use and explore more with it

By the way to those who are interested in this try to get from HARVEY NORMAN
i think they are givin the best deal in town so far

free laptop lock
free keyboard protector
free usb mouse
free lcd cleaning clothe
free 4gb pendrive
free 3 fans laptop cooler
free rm40 bakers cottage voucher

as far as i know senQ oni giv 4gb pendrive and a very small amount of cash rebate..............

@iZZiDeltA, IMHO:
1) For me, I haven't seen any Microsoft OS machine able to achieve "Click and Appear". There will always be minor freeze.
2) i5 is not quad cores but dual cores with Hyperthreading. Burning speed depends on a few factors like the speed supported by your disc and the software you using to burn, and of course the writer.
3) You have the option to uninstall them.
4) Try to think how much you paid for this and how much it would cost to get the responsive Mac. Orange is definitely no as sweet as apple.
5) No comment as not yet try on it.
